Key elements:effective engagement identified: transparency, inclusive participation, open dialogue, timely involvement, accessible information, feedback loops and links between engagement and decision-making. These principles help build legitimacy and trust. post.parliament.uk/research-bri...

📝 BLOG 📝 While transparency laws are improving, the wealthy can still hide behind trusts. We've found 236,500 properties across England and Wales owned via trusts worth at least £64 billion with ownership details hidden from public view. Read more ⤵️

Does anyone else find it creepy that your phone throws ads at you based on stuff you talked about with someone in real life?

The EU - UK reset is a good start, but too cautious. Without at least rejoining the single market we won’t turn the corner on the 4 to 5 percent of GDP we lost due to Brexit & its consequential annual £40billion lost tax revenue - just think about what a difference that would to our public finances!

House GOP is holding a hearing on their tax bill at 1:00 AM because they don't want us to know about their scheme to strip 13.7 million people of health coverage & they think no one will stay awake for it. I’ll be there, testifying & offering amendments to protect our families.

It cannot be said too often - Brexit in the most damaging form it took was a disaster made by the Tories under the Liar - the worst PM the UK had in living memory by some margin www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Boyle: "Out from CBO, just tonight, are the distributional effects of this bill. And what does it show? The bottom 10 percent of Americans will actually be poorer as a result of this bill with the biggest benefit going to the top 1 percent."

Netanyahu is determined. He won’t stop unless he is actively stopped. It’s not about selling a few less weapons, pleading, expressing outrage & maybe ending a trade negotiation we never should’ve been in. It’s about aggressive sanctions now, expelling the ambassador & our military delivering aid.

Fish & shellfish caught by British fishermen will now be processed and sold into the EU without needing further veterinary checks, eliminating huge red tape, checks, costs and delays created by Brexit. Given that 70% of seafood caught in UK is sold in EU, this is a big win. Ignore fibbing Farage!

Frank Turner has raised an incredible £18k by pledging £1 per ticket from his latest tour to MVT. This is the power of one artist making the choice to give back to grassroots music venues. Our sincerest gratitude to Frank and his team for making this happen.

It’s abundantly clear that #Brexit will never work #RejoinEU #EUSummit

Gary Lineker has been fired from the BBC because he spoke out about Palestine. #iSupportGary Lets get it trending

“Starmer's EU deal is a big break in the suffocating Brexit consensus that has held Britain back for a decade. For the first time a UK government is doing things to actually undo the damage of Brexit, rather than increase it. For that alone it should be welcomed” 👏 bylinetimes.com/2025/05/19/k...

We live in a world where the United Nations has to persuade world leaders to do something via social media Just think about that…. The United Nations!

🔴Keir Starmer’s EU Reset Deal Is the First Crack in the Brexit Wall Holding Britain Back This agreement marks the beginning of the end of the suffocating Brexit consensus that has gripped British politics for a decade, argues Adam Bienkov bylinetimes.com/2025/05/19/k...

Another disgraceful decision- UK government dropped health push after lobbying by ultra-processed food firms www.theguardian.com/society/ng-i...

Keir Starmer Is Braced For A Huge Labour Rebellion Over Welfare Cuts More than 100 MPs have signed a letter urging the government to think again I’m joining @trusselluk.bsky.social in calling on the government to change course. This is how you can help👇 action.trussell.org.uk/disability-cuts

An ambitious re-set with the EU is needed for Britain’s economy and security. “Labour should reconsider its 'red chains'. “ www.cer.eu/insights/eur...

The Catholic Church has a new Pope, and he explicitly cited the threats AI presents for workers as a reason for choosing the name Leo XIV. With the tech industry doing all it can to defend its power, could the Pope be an ally against the AI onslaught?

Reforms to how GMC regulates doctors will go ahead this parliament, says minister www.bmj.com/content/389/... Essential following yesterday's High Court revelations. Politicians need to avoid meddling in patient safety issues.

Starmer wants growth, strong public services and reduced migration. He might as well wish for fairies at the bottom of his garden. Without inward migration, his other hopes cannot be fulfilled. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/05...

House GOP's proposed Medicaid work requirements could strip health coverage from up to 5.2 million people. The goal isn't to encourage work—it's to save money for tax cuts for the wealthy. The result? More debt, preventable deaths, and millions left uninsured. This cruel plan risks lives and jobs.

I’m one of those dodgy immigrants who came here on a spouse visa and got indefinite leave to remain after 12 months. The incalculable harm I have done to the UK includes dedicating my life to public service, educating thousands of British young people, and paying more tax than I’ll ever get back.

It’s hard to know what’s more depressing Starmer’s willingness to ape Nigel Farage by stating immigration has caused “incalculable damage” to the country Or that this is presumably based on research into what people want to hear

“A common mistaken ideology has convinced many progressives that they must "move to the right" to get more votes. But this is counterproductive. By moving to the right, progressives actually help activate the right's values and give up on their own. In the process, they also alienate their own base”

Good summary including low cost public expenditure interventions blueprint.nesta.org.uk

Care work is NOT low skilled. It is, however, damned hard work, poorly-paid and not everyone has the right aptitude for it. Turnover in the first two years of employment is very high, as people realise they're not cut out for it/can't live on the wages.

Labour has a whopping great majority and four years left to turn this country around. They should be setting the agenda, not chasing about trying to placate voters of a party with five MPs who will never vote for them anyway. It's not only disappointing... it's embarrassing

UK food shops report ‘massive’ rise in pensioner shoplifting. Poverty forces people to do desperate acts Full state pension less than 50% of min wage, loss of winter fuel payment, unchecked profiteering. Govts perpetuate poverty with low wages, benefit cuts. Align state pension with living wage

AOC: "We need to be talking about ICE agents and the cowardly policy of covering their faces

"There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." - Commander William Adama, Battlestar Galactica

Israel is preventing the WHO from sending incubators into Gaza. Think about how savage, how barbaric, how evil, you have to be to defend that and defend the government doing that.

Trump's plans to control films that can be seen in the USA and what can be taught in US universities are all about full-on thought control - a classic fascist propaganda aim. youtu.be/C9aEHAAAeCE?...

"There's a generation that's growing up online and it's a generation who don't see women as whole humans who have rights. It's a pandemic of misogyny that is unfolding online and isn't being taken seriously." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

One of 42 Labour MPs to break ranks and say they cannot support the government's benefits cuts, Paula Barker says Treasury orthodoxy cannot dictate policy at the expense of constituents www.bigissue.com/opinion/dwp-...

Idk who else needs this screamed in their face but in 2023 “illegal” immigrants contributed 89.3 BILLION dollars in taxes to the US and had ZERO ability to receive any benefits like social security or FMLA etc. ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CONTRIBUTE MORE IN TAXES THAN BILLIONAIRES! #Econsky

Giving weight loss jabs could bolster UK economy by £4.5bn a year, study says Why are we not dealing with this issue upstream by taxing food manufacturers who are polluting humanity
