Very much looking forward to seeing the Bob Dylan film this weekend, and reminiscing on the time when Dave Fanning confirmed, over on the other app, a rumour we'd heard that himself and Bobby once darkened the door of The Lord Ed!

Sent this by one of the lads yesterday. Ghost Sign of former pub - The Henry Grattan (Lower Baggot St) which was uncovered briefly during works, ongoing at the premises. Never had the pleasure of visiting it when it was a pub, myself. It was most recently a Spar 😕

Chaplin's on Hawkin's St. Was here last summer and the entire customer base (10 people max) asked the barman to put on the sound for the Euros Quarter Final that was on the telly. He poinblank refused every single request, keeping the best of Johnny Cash on repeat instead.

How major retailers think I'll spend Christmas morning vs how I'll actually spend it.

My photo app tells me it's four years to the day since I photographed the longest pub in Europe* - The Hole in The Wall. Grand snap it turned out, too.

Lol

www.dublinbypub.ie/news/blog/to... It's coming that time of year again, and I've been revisiting this 2022 page on our website where we ranked five Christmas-appropriate boozers. I must do a 2024 variant if I get the time (I probably won't get the time).

I see that the pub in Harold's Cross that got rid of booze and replaced it with board games is bringing back booze.

Photo of The Bleeding Horse I took recently and hadn't intended to publish. Actually like the street photography vibes the lad in the foreground brings to it. Gave me cause to go back and read what we'd written about the place on our website. Check it out here: www.dublinbypub.ie/pubs/bleedin...

CosyChristmasPints season is almost upon us, and as usual - our inboxes are awash with pub recommendation requests. This list we compiled during the year, was only supposed to be a bit of craic. But is coming in very handy for responding to such queries! www.dublinbypub.ie/news/blog/du...

Bitta videoing going on in Harry Byrnes in Clontarf. I hear it's a Guinness ad. Last ad filmed in there was for Island's Edge, so hopefully that's not a sign of anything 🙈

What's wrong babe, you've barely split the g on your €120 pint glass.

Have noticed a steady trickle of followers on here over the last few weeks... The great migration from the other kip must be underway. We'd better get to posting so. Here's a snap of Briody's on Marlborough Street on Black & White film from a few months back.

Doing a bit of work adding tags to images in the aul archive here, and these three - tagged: International - look the part when placed together.

www.dublinbypub.ie/dockers-pub/... New post on the blog today looks at the (relatively) recently reopened Dockers pub on John Rogerson's Quay.

New post on the blog this morning. Recounting one of my more inebriated odysseys around Dublin which centred around a visit to the Lagoona Bar in the IFSC. The pub recently, and quietly, permanently closed. www.dublinbypub.ie/pubs/lagoona...

Just had my cigarettes returned to me by a wren boy. It was the straw that brought the camels back.

New (fairly legit looking) Instagram pages for Beamish and Murphy's after popping up over the last few days, there. I'm taking this as the death knell for Islands Edge.

New post on the website ponders The Foggy Dew and the relevance of its name. www.dublinbypub.ie/pubs/foggy-d...

Drinking pints with Shane MacGowan and waking up with the worst hangover of my twenties.

Kernoff's 'Bird Never Flew on One Wing' is a bit reminiscent of this, is it?

Sorting through a few photos, clearing storage on the phone, and this beauty from The King's Inn a few months back is putting the goo on me at 11.28AM on a September Thursday morning.

I have a few spare invite codes for Twitter, if anyone wants one.

Would rather pay for a pint of Island's Edge than pay for Twitter tbh

The Palace Bar is celebrating its 200th Birthday this month. It remains one of Dublin's great, great pubs. Here's a snap of it I took on #kodak film a while back. #dublin #ireland #pints #filmphotography
