this site's reaction to JD Vance is fine because that's the space, but you also have to recognize that the space is limited because of the shielding. it's fine, I'd just rather the people here own it. It's a bunch of people at one end of a yardstick quibbling over millimeters. and that's ok.

Today I've written a little reflection on the way we communicate, and how it applies to AI, and how we can do a better job of building empathy. It touches on some serious philosophy but doesn't go too deep on it. READ:

This website doesn't seem to believe it, but AI is going to continue shaping the way we do things. I think we should point it in the right direction. Here's a sketch for how AI can help us perform an epistemic audit of our institutions. seekingsignal.substack.com/p/the-accoun...

the modal opinion on bluesky seems to be that the people criticizing the messaging discipline and tactics of the protesters are huge idiots that just don't understand. the bluesky crowd also does not see the logical problem with this opinion. but sure, no new voices needed over here!

I know the Yarvin dude is overexposed and more publications would be better off if they would simply not write about him. But the New Yorker piece is illuminating in one way: it shows him as a confused boy still trying to get kudos by showing off how many books he has read. Sad in many ways.

I wrote about institutional atrophy, and finding a sense of the good again. Ultimately, I think this is why the support is tepid or collapsing on the left. seekingsignal.substack.com/p/we-know-a-...

I'm not here all the time, so as a relatively infrequent lurker, I have to tell y'all this site is getting way worse.

honestly crazy to see people in my generation behave exactly like the anti-search-engine luddites from the Y2K era. "yahoo routed my kid to white house dot com and now this technology must be stopped" nonsense. y'all are trads in a different wrapper.

Been doing the whole thinking thing again, and decided to write about how technocratic considerations as the ideal of last resort is the main thing that got us into our mess. also discusses what we must do in order to head it off signal-noise-ratio.ghost.io/efficiency-w...

Great to hear Buffett talk about the problem if every individual state having esoteric rules for energy construction and delivery. That's part of the problem we're trying to solve with our data solution. We think open data helps put eyes on these complex issues, so we can have a bottom up solution

the rojas thing needs to end. if he can't field, he can't be in the lineup. it is insane that he's still playing every day.

We're at DC Climate Week talking about agrivoltaics. Come find Matt Duffy from TerraSol if you're here.

is there an agrivoltaics bluesky

Romano might not be a very good pitcher!

Here to say the yglesias discourse on here is born out of either insanity or wild jealousy. Also, this is why the left loses all the time. They are no different from magas, grievance is the foundation and nothing will satisfy it.

I think bohm is permanently broken
