Westport. Ho - the land is red!

Past Claremorris, the land turns wild. Stone walls and mottled cattle, old tyres, and bailing twine.

Can't beat a long train journey for some reading time...

It's wild that we have just memory-holed this as a society. If you are a 50+ year old (as I am) there's a good chance your grand parents lost siblings below the age of 5 to "natural causes".

Once again Gillian Tett has the definitive take on this whole "what's going on?" situation. I would add that none of our models (human or computer) have been trained on the amount of crazy that we currently have. on.ft.com/3I3PxCg

We just had one of the longest stretches of "no coal" on the Irish grid: over 15 days, from May 27 through June 12 🏭 Winds have been strong for the time of year and both May and June have seen grid carbon intensity drop to all-time lows for these months of the year of around 100gCO₂/kWh.

This is the real story in UK politics - Reform are eating the Conservatives vol-au-vents and the Lib Dems are walking away with the prize.

The education is not the product. The debt is.

Students in England graduate with average £53,000 debt. Total debt £266bn, up to 7.3% interest. Most European nations don't charge university tuition fees, England does. What was public debt, is now personal debt. People penalised for education, can't start family, business. Abolish uni fees.

🚨NHS has put out an urgent call for 200,000 donors to come forward Just 2% of the population - under 800,000 people sustained the whole of England's blood supply over past 12 months Giving blood is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Book an appointment or register today ❤️🙏👇 blood.co.uk

My autobiography got absolutely covered in contact adhesive. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The sun is shining, Doors open to let a breeze in, Small free birds at the feeder... This day has started well.

Horror story from my mum: Friend of her neighbour moved into a new build house before Christmas and liked it but the smell of paint wasn't going away and energy bills were high. Neighbour went round and got a plumber round to look. Lads - none of the joints on the gas pipes were soldered. None.

Right now #wind is meeting 20% of the National Grid's electricity demand. https://winderful.uk
