“Failure is the mini-theme this week. Failure to suppress…to count…to care…to recognize…to accommodate…to monitor…to test…to trust, failure all around.” Also included is an updated list of must-read articles on Covid.

When did we decide that the only way a person can “contribute” to society is economically? Why have we allowed the billionaires and capitalism to train us to see worth in such binary terms? Many people contribute in other ways. Your worth should never be tied to your job.

Gabbard valuing loyalty to Trump over respect for the facts & sound analysis is why she was almost universally regarded by national security professionals as a disastrous choice to be Director of National Intelligence. She is living up to the worst fears about her. www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...

It appears Sec. Kennedy is getting ready to over-ride vaccine policy experts & scrub Covid shot recommendations for children, teens & pregnant people. Having a HHS secretary reset vaccine policy without hearings or expert advice is unprecedented, experts tell STAT. www.statnews.com/2025/05/15/c...

Me. And a “substantial loss in work productivity” from #LongCovid is so much more. It is a: Loss in my identity. Loss in my income. Loss in my purpose. Loss in my friendships.

So I read the replies! In reality, you are completely full of it. Meanwhile, the peer reviewed medical research continues to grow while you hide behind the safety of a keyboard. www.panaccindex.info/p/answered-i...

I feel like Alberta losing their democracy should be a bigger deal.

This will never be not funny to me

Long Covid is real and those affected deserve to be taken seriously. Weaponizing vaccine approval and stigmatizing masks are both bad. Read more here: open.substack.com/pub/johndupu...

"On average, among those with long COVID symptoms, the amount of time loss was nearly 100 hours (equivalent to 2.7 weeks of full-time work) more over 3 months & almost 15% greater work performance impairment per week": Via @dupuisj.bsky.social www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/lon...

It’s here! #theaicon “Our goal is to help the public at large as well as decision-makers at all levels become resistant to hype. Think of us as your guides to navigating a glitzy technology expo hall, full of salespeople trying to get you to buy a new product or fork over your data.”

I struggle with the reporting on ChatGPT in education because it often confirms society’s negative bias against young people—oh no, this generation is unsaveable!—when it’s possible to just educate people to be less credulous about it. which is why I wrote this: so teachers could print and assign it

Evan Solomon as Minister of AI makes sense when you remember he's an expert at being shady about art. 👀

evan solomon as minister for AI is a nightmare made reality

Carney is making Evan fucking Solomon minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation. Evan fucking Solomon. FFS

I used to be the most physically able member of my household, and now I struggle to get the garbage and recycling out on a regular basis, because walking to the bins and back is exhausting

You mean I contribute less to the economy by getting splatted all the time? 😮😮😮

Shock and surprise at these findings.

Haven’t been able to work in nearly two years thanks to an asymptomatic health care worker refusing to mask and getting me infected with what turned to Long Covid. Millions of people no where near healthy enough to work like they could have before

Oh, so you mean that forcing everyone back to work and school without appropriate infection protection was BAD for the ECONOMY, too? Who could have known? (It was us. The people screaming about it all the way back in 2020 when the pandemic started. Politicians only cared about the short term.)

A new study shows that air cleaners can reduce up to 98,1 % of viral load in the air of a #COVID patient's room with confirmed positive airborne viral RNA. Rooms with HEPA ventilation had zero virus detected. 👏 #CleantheAir in hospitals and schools!👏 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

"more free speech for whom?" is a good question to ask whenever someone says they want more free speech, as trump and the GOP did loudly and often when biden was president

I have a friend who has suffered from Long COVID 5 years now. It’s real and debilitating, affecting his ability to work and find joy in work. We need more research, not DOGE cuts.

Don’t really have anything to say tbh. Everything I’m working on and care about and have dedicated my life to is being dismantled and defunded and shat upon and I’m kind of numb.

Sure, AI may be an environmental disaster and produce mid outcomes in cases where it doesn't straight up lie, but at least it's extremely unprofitable.
