I’m a hungry hungry hippo. I play a lot of commander and rpgs. Life is short, giggle more. He/Him/His

Built, tweaked, and played two commander decks. Bought nothing (okay, I bought Kitsa for the cool David Petersen art) but bought no cards for either 99-just already owned cards. Did this as a treat to myself for sorting. It was surprisingly freeing to just have some cards on my coffee table and go.

Silly things in commander: building a deck as an excuse to play Giant Growth. I have yet to draw Giant Growth. But I did cast several other pump spells and it was awesome!

Using some time off to sort cards. I’m making progress and have so much stuff to sell and donate. I did this a while back and did not realize how much stuff I picked up along the way.

Fabula Ultima game soon. Have the GM jitters. 17 years of being a GM and before every session I think about how I’m not a good GM and how the players are just tolerating my game. Or that no one will come to the game. Anyone else deal with this?

Having fun with these #cmdr decks: Twice the Dead- archidekt.com/decks/10462743 "We have Commander at Home"- archidekt.com/decks/112886... BG "leaves the GY, make a token" and "a whole sea of tier 2 commander cards" bring a lot of joy. Need to remember to start with concept not commander.

Study actions in Fabula let you just set up so much more info in front of players. I actually love that I barely need a GM screen for this. No secret rolls, PCs can learn more about enemies. And next time they fight hunter-mages, they’ll be even more ready for them!

Session 2 of Fabula Ultima! I’m loving this game. My players really help making things work and one player is rules captain! They’re starting their own game and read the book like 5 times. So dang happy about that! Expecting first boss fight next session!!

Went to the library today for some #ttrpg prep. I did a bunch of brainstorming and got it condescended to a playable page spread for my notebook! I’m really loving Fabula Ultima

I’ve been running a weekly Thursday game since 2020. Ad have been running and playing other #ttrpg often on a 2x monthly schedule. Life has finally put the Thursday game into perma hiatus. We had 5 years of gaming! Is it weird to grieve a gaming group?

Wednesday’s second #cmdr game involved me using my wife’s Etali deck. I am now in the process of building my own Etali! So much fun!! Even through a board wipe was able to keep chugging along. Alter by @foxnoctom.bsky.social

Played some #cmdr Wednesday. “We have commander at home” with t1 burgeoning is a lot less “at home” and more “don’t stop me now” vibes. But I did equip Argentum Armor to Glint Eye Nephilim and hit for 22 after doubling power. I had to start thinking so I didn’t deck out!

I know everything is bad. But I got some solid thinking going about my new #FabulaUltima ttrpg. It isn’t much, but man I need the little wins.

Nomad Outpost from the new Magic: The Gathering Tarkir Dragonstorm set 😃 I will be at Mox Bellevue TOMORROW for their evening Pre-Release! Bring your cards to get signed! :D AD: Forrest Schehl #mtgart #magicthegathering #mtgtdm #fantasyart

I keep thinking about silly Pendragon ideas. Like Shadow Guildmage and Sting to just ping stuff and reset value critters.

Brand new FRIDAY NIGHTS premiering shortly! This is a pretty special one, please join us! #LRRMTG youtu.be/5G_R-XVpt5A

If you haven't seen it, the latest episode of Friday Nights is probably one of the best things I've ever worked on.

Dealing with bad idea soup brain for my ttrpgs. All the ideas are just bad. Party is going to see a powerful mage who is the guardian for The Bell of Fire. All my ideas for where it is or how the party can get it suck.

It’s pretty screwed up that some political BS can lock a bunch of plans that help keep people able to live their lives under absurd student loan debt. And even more screwed that “oh, yeah ha ha now pay like 6x what you can afford” is allowed. We live in a society??

Been a while since I played Commander at open play and not with known opponents. Some people were blown away when I was telling them my game plans when explaining my decks. So I’m really happy with using the new bracket system to help get on the same page.

Tiny win, living close enough to a grocery store to walk when traffic is bad and have way less stress.

Did I miss something changing the release dates for Tarkin Dragonstorm and Final Fantasy? These previews are hype but my store is already getting calls about preorder and we don’t have numbers and the set releases in months.

Commander lesson tonight: just because your commander draws cards doesn’t mean your deck is good at card draw. Could have been doing way more than hiding behind Dark Imposter with some more card draw today.

Talking to my wife about the game changers list. “Drannith Magistrate, it’s 2 mana-“ “Is that the Chad looking guy with dark hair? I know that one.” She wants to read every card but knows every art she saw only once.

I predicted the commander brackets in 2016 when I made my own list to discuss games. I used the Gears of War difficulties for names but the concept is real close. articles.starcitygames.com/articles/the...

Dungeon World game tonight! Went well, even with only 2 players present. They’re finding more about demon slowly trying to possess the town of Greywater. But the PCs had stopped the current plan. Need to figure out how to stop the demon permanently. Need to get to a knightly order too.

In a related note, been focusing more of my decks to not “do the thing” as fast as possible. But as reliably and consistently as I can. Cards like Rutstein aren’t super high impact, but it is an early defensive play that always gives some value. 2025 goal is to be threatening but not the threat.
