if you think about it, revealing whether a movie is any good or not is kinda the ultimate spoiler

I was so glad to see a new @heavyweight.bsky.social podcast episode in the feed after what seems like decades, only to be so dismayed that the 1st ad, read by the host and producer themselves, was for ChatGPT+ (and aimed directly at college students!) I know they have bills to pay… but so do I.

“The kids are gonna have a field day with this” — me, at my kid’s field day

Us watching "G20" on Amazon Prime

You mean “alleged” undocumented immigrants, right? Isn’t that what the media is supposed to default to using for folks accused of something that has yet to be proven in court?

I now want to see the Tina Fey-produced series where this takes place in Texas and the woman is forced to take the fake pregnancy through fake labor and then raise a fake baby or else she’ll be tried for murder

My family secret: I don’t really like Star Wars. Always more of a Star Trek guy. But my kids got in their heads that all dads love Star Wars and now I’ve got a closet full of SW stuff gifted to me over time that I have to wear today (as we go see Empire in a theater) or else I’ll disappoint them

I’m old enough to remember when White Houses used the popularity of Star Wars to sell their space-based missile defense shields… not their earth-based narcissistic-ego defense mechanisms.

If political reporters are still gonna insist on covering politics like a horse race, then sports reporters have to cover the Kentucky Derby like politics. I wanna know the horses’ positions on the key issues, how their win would affect my family, which opponents they’ll send to the glue factory…

One of the many reasons obsequious chatbot flattery is bad: It convinces people that their bad ideas are good, leading to them to double down on those ideas rather than improve them in the face of criticism. A generation reliant on such chatbots risks being increasingly devoid of critical thinking.

Amazing review by Manohla Dargis of RUST, which is finally slinking its way to theaters and VOD. Only a couple of obligatory sentences on the movie itself, and the rest on the preventable tragedy that colors every second watching it. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/m...

Wait. Amazon Prime just released G20 with Viola Davis as a kickass President this month... and coming this summer they got THIS coming out, too?!? What's in the water at Amazon?!? youtu.be/8J646zM7UM8?...

JD Vance’s sister begs people to stop joking about his visit with the Pope

There’s other ways to let Mel know you’re available, you know

Was this what motivated them getting the ship’s cannons moving again? (Not complaining, just noting the timing!)

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

Podcasters: Until those findings are replicated in a peer-reviewed journal, I will remain highly skeptical. Podcasters during ad breaks: Good news, guys. You can fix your credit while you sleep with MoneyPillow.

Now I want to take my family on a cruise just so we can call ourselves "explorers"

A little something I made and posted back in January 2021, after the 2nd impeachment right before he left office... maybe the guy just really wants that free ice cream!?

Is Bradley Cooper going to win the Oscar for playing the guy who says "He's not the one" or the guy who says "Take him anyway"? (In either role, by the end of the movie, his character has learned a valuable lesson but not-so-valuable that anyone watching in a red state will feel bad about it)

RFK, Jr. should've asked his Aunt Rosemary about this while she was alive. Oh, wait, he couldn't because she was institutionalized and given a lobotomy rendering her speechless before he was born...

Going through old links I've kept for reasons I've mostly forgotten about and saw this from June 2020... I think I clipped as a reminder that Gwynne Shotwell is the reason why SpaceX is successful in ways that other Musk-basked companies are not? www.cnbc.com/2020/06/19/s...

it really isn’t fair to hockey players that they make them wear ice skates

Sorry if this sounds overly cynical or nitpicky, but if your mom is writing the “untold” story of your life… maybe a lot is still being left untold? (Connie is Scott’s mom, and Scott only contributed the foreword)

Isn’t this what the dad just did on a certain tv show I won’t name for spoiler reasons?

sadly, i am no longer able to afford the use of an oxford comma and now must resort to using its inferior, albeit domestically-produced American cousin, the oxnard comma. it's almost as good, but doesn't work between Canadians. just ask my parents, Drake and Celine Dion
