There are currently *4* cars pulled over in front of my apartment building, at least 2 of them changing tires. (I think the other 2 are providing cover.) Pothole season takes no prisoners in Western MA. 📷: last month of another sacrifice by my building to the pothole gods

Yesterday’s #NEH find is that program pages for defunded programs have been pulled from the website. What a bummer to see programs like the DHAG not just cancelled but erased by the agency. Fortunately all the projects they funded remain as indisputable evidence of their value! #DigitalHumanities

Happy Pride month, all! Way back in 2018 I made these galaxy pride flags. They were shared many thousands of times, featured on Vice, and even made their way onto book covers and into video games. Here are the original ones I created (in no particular order!) so Bluesky can have them too. 💙

America, PBS has just confirmed that the brand new episode of ‘Pompeii: The New Dig’ documentary that lovingly follows the current excavations of a large and sumptuous house in Region IX will air on Sunday 8th June 2025.

"Trump, in other words, has as much power to remove [the director of the National Portrait Gallery] from her post as I do — that is to say, none at all." - @jamellebouie.net

This Day in Labor History: June 4, 1912. Massachusetts established the nation’s first minimum wage. This was a result of long-time worker outrage over the conditions of their lives and the strikes that resulted. It also led to a pioneering law that would become federal law in 1938!

Sometimes I’m just like everything is so dumb and stupid what is the point and then I see Big Bird in a Larry Bird jersey and it’s like wow the world is beautiful and worth fighting for

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺

I’ve seen that the administration’s proposed budget eliminates the NEH and IMLS, but haven’t seen anything about the NEA yet. Is that because he’s keeping it around for the next budget cycle to fund his awful “Garden of American Heroes?” Or is it gone, too, and it just hasn’t been reported yet?

We knew that the IMLS was going to defunded in the proposed 2026 budget. Seeing what that looks like–and the language about it being closed out entirely–is still chilling. Details from the proposed budget and what impact that has on the 2 IMLS court cases. bookriot.com/the-2026-fed...
