It's never good to cut federal spending for disaster preparedness and recovery. The decision is made worse when hurricane season nears and professional forecasters say it'll likely be worse than average. We must hope for the best. Many Americans are still recovering and rebuilding from years past.

100 Republicans vs. 1 AOC. I'm placing bets on the latter to win. 😎

The overall turnout of eligible voters in the 2024 General Election was 63.7%, and less than half (49.8% or 77,284,118 people) voted for the guy who would run the country as a business despite having multiple companies go bankrupt including a casino. How's that working out for everyone?

An annual tradition.

The 2025 NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting (a.k.a. NFL Draft) starts tonight! To track the latest news, subscribe to Mina's starter pack. She has been a superstar recruiter getting most of our favorite NFL people from The Bad Place to Bluesky. A few clicks and you have the best NFL feed. Let's go!

Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.

Thank you for making good trouble, Senator @booker.senate.gov.

I had the good fortune of being in the audience for this episode! John and the entire production team couldn't have been nicer people. My wife and I had a great time 😀

Republican members are running scared because they're being held accountable for their actions by the very people who voted for them. Rather than face the repercussions, they want to clear their calendars, ignore the phones, and avoid community centers. This is not leadership. This is cowardice.

Imagine you're struggling to open a jar of pickles when someone enters the room. They say, "I got it," and they open it—cool. Now imagine the person smashing the jar onto the floor instead. That's what this administration is doing. They're not being helpful; instead, they choose to be evil fuckers.

I am as equally qualified for federal appointments as those facing Senate committees. If there's one thing that gives me an edge over all of them, it is that I'm not a heartless, selfish misanthrope. Genuinely caring about others, especially those you'll never know or meet, should be a prerequisite.

Weak men cannot compromise. Weak men cannot build consensus. Weak men think that leadership means force. Weak men build nothing that lasts.

There are oligarchs and demagogues illegally dismantling the very government that allowed them to (regrettably) become who they are. They're willing to metaphorically burn it down so that you and I have no infrastructure, support, identity, or protections. To them, we're nothing more than a virus.

Hey, @bsky.app! 👋 Thank you for making the Internet a better place. I'm sure you've received this suggestion along the way, but it would be wonderful if I didn't see the same post appear multiple times on my Following feed because more than one account reposts it. I hope this can be fixed. Thanks 🙂

For years, I was part of a popular Tesla podcast. I read the early tea leaves with Elon Musk and shared my concerns with our audience. I was in the vocal minority but had seen his true colors before most. Yet, I never thought he'd threaten global democracy and humanity. What is Congress waiting for?

Imagine what a competent opposition party could do with this stuff

This is a fascinating conversation between @chrislhayes.bsky.social and @pablo.show (love these guys) about the value of our attention. The part about PTI's influence on modern programming was an "aha!" moment. Buy "The Sirens' Call" wherever you get your books or ask your local library for copies.

It is very easy to call your representatives’ offices. They have to log your calls and the call numbers are meaningful. You don’t even have to try to convince anyone; just call and tell them your concerns. They are there to represent you. Let them know what that means. www.usa.gov/elected-offi...

This conversation between Jon Stewart and @aoc.bsky.social on the latest @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social is worth watching. I was nodding my head and often saying "damn right" to an empty room. We need to protect and support AOC at all costs.

We’re so fortunate to have the inimitable Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Congress. Her constituents in NY-14 have given America a gift. I saved this photo to my phone on the day of her first primary. She continues to fight these battles for us. I hope I’m lucky enough to vote for her someday.

Cold callers ask if I want to sell my home, likely to investors. In this market, my asking price is $1M. Although my house isn't worth it, it covers what I need to buy next. The next sound I hear is a phone click. We're in a crisis. America, you need to build more housing. These parasites must die.

The plan was always to flood the zone with shit. Not everyone can respond to every outrage. That's on purpose. But no need to get mad at someone for focusing on stuff *you* don't think is important. Let everyone focus on what they want to focus on.

Is it fine to call everyone who voted for this president racist, bigoted fuckwads, or are people still trying to pretend this had something to do with groceries??

OK Mike. California creates about 15% of the country's GDP. Louisiana gets like 30% of its budget from the federal government. I have some thoughts on how you guys spend your money, if you'd like to open the floor to a larger discussion.

@minakimes.bsky.social and @benjaminsolak.bsky.social explain why teams including the Dolphins will miss or likely miss the playoffs. Certainly, Tua's time on IR didn't help, but the front office has to take some blame. Mina is looking at you, GM Chris Grier. Watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsTl...

New year, new ways to save money.

The holiday season is typically about joy, merriment, and love. For some, it can remind them of what used to be or should be. If you're experiencing loss or personal trials, please know you have people to lean on for support and comfort. Love is all around you. There will be brighter days ahead. ❤
