Big moment in Hiberno-English development for the toddler, as she muttered "Bold cat..." at one of the cats (who was, in fact, being bold)

East Berlin, Berliner Dom, 11 September 1959. I post photographs taken on my many Berlin visits in the 1950s and 1960s. 180 historic street images of East and West Berlin are in my book "Berlin in the Cold War" (Amberley Publishing). #Berlin #DDR #GDR

Is the player not able to speak up for himself? Pretty certain he wasn't forced onto the plane. Why don't we treat millionaire sports stars as adults?

Anyone who happened to know that the White House would announce and then suspend tariffs within 24 hours just made a boatload of money.

Today, on St Brigid’s Day, Irish communities in London and across the globe are celebrating the start of spring and the remarkable achievements of women throughout history. Lá Fhéile Bríde Shona Daoibh!

Das beste Bild des Tages. #NieWieder ❗️

Why do BBC give Laura Kuenssberg free rein to write this drivel? "The big picture is tough. The country's debts are massive and taxes are huge." It's not even wrong/biased. It's just vacuous twaddle that adds absolutely nothing to public understanding of the issues. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

"Imagine a world in which an A.I. can analyze your reading patterns and alert you that you’re about to buy a book where there’s only a 10 percent chance you’ll get past Page 6..." Fuck off. That's not empowerment, that's outsourcing your soul. That's outsouling. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/25/o...

It's very disturbing and as Musk essentially pays blue ticks for the sensational disinformation they are disseminating it is getting much worse

Never has the fake 'patriotism' of the British right-wing tabloid press been more powerfully displayed than this week

Most people know the Mail briefly supported the British Union of Fascists in 1934 ("Hurrah for the Blackshirts") but less well known is that Rothermere got all his papers to back them. The Sunday Dispatch ran a prize for the best letter on "Why I Like the Blackshirts".

Crazy idea, stick with me... Law, but for rich people.

Sleep is woke, apparently.

Excellent for Keely Hodgkinson to take Sports Personality in UK. Only a handful of years ago she was always in those low-ranked races in far-off corners of Europe. Very impressive athlete, glad being Olympic 800m champ still has a massive cachet. #spoty

In case you forgot, the newly announced Chairman of Trump's Intelligence Advisory Board remains embroiled in civil litigation against his fictional cow.

Ominous Russell Brand vibes here: wellness grifting and bothsidesism as the gateway to conspiracy theories www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Nothing quite sums up how Kemi Badenoch's leadership is going so far like this interview in which she dismisses sandwiches as being not a "real food" and lunch being "for wimps"

I'm going to keep repeating it until the Irish media pays attention - the far right aren't democrats and don't care about not getting votes. They want to be seen and heard, and are delighted that you all made immigration a #GE24 issue on their behalf. You're feeling smug, but being played.

Despite the best efforts of the Irish media to hype them up the Irish electorate has resoundingly rejected the far right.

Reminder of what those railing against yesterday's immigration statistics said when the new system that gave rise to them was introduced...

As I have somehow surpassed 7k followers on here I thought it might be nice to do a giveaway: All 7 of my books to one lovely winner. Just share and like to be in with a chance! 😁📚

Simon Harris is possibly the most shifty looking politician ever...

Israel's government bans any government-funded body communicating with Haaretz or placing ads in the paper

Incredible, how casually Kuenssberg skates over the fact she got the facts flat-out wrong in her framing of the opening question, in order to make a hostile editorial point. Just presses on, as if a minister having to put her right on basic inaccuracies is an ordinary part of any BBC interview.

hello and welcome to the 1M people that have joined Bluesky in the last week!!!
