ICYMI.

Back at home and it's raining in Reinehaven but computer seems safe. Will catch up on some things and then promote SOMETHING COOL at midnight.

Hi.

The speakers blaring extended “jazzy” (not jazzy) covers of pop songs with bland scat and presumably sanitized lyrics would be a good way to turn me into a murderer. But I’m told the park closes in an hour so I should be fine. Should be.

So where’s the… Almost at 23? ! ah

Still dating in Ohio. As sweaty as I am happy and you know how sweaty I am.

“We need to get you out of the house.”

Chris told me this was the best ride for the wait, and his favorite. I said “I have vertigo and ptsd,” and he said, “it’s relaxing like a gravity blanket” and urged me to go. He’s no longer trying to talk me into a coaster.

This man was very serious about this date.

Ok Chris decided that I need to go to Cedar Point to ride a merry go round and he got real serious about it and I’m like but thunderstorms here but you know what, he wanted to go so uh that’s what we’re doing now. “I added salsa to that rice I made and you can eat that.” Is this yolo.

It's also why seemingly good people are so adamant to blame victims' behavior to justify their own association with abusers. They abused her because she was aggressive / uncivil / unprofessional / uncooperative. So they won't hurt me. Yeah that's right, bullies are so loyal. Choose better.

YUP. This is why you don't save yourself by siding with the bullies. The monster eats everyone in the end. Some...immediately. www.freep.com/story/news/e...

Thanks to Sara for interviewing me. She had some stellar questions that people haven't asked me before. Also check out the ARC give away for her upcoming book The Gryphon King! Also several props to her for getting the thumbnail of Countess to be her face and not....money shots... haha...

I love this short story by @zzclaybourne.bsky.social so much I've already added it to the Nebula Award recommendation list. Read it and love life. Again - or more. Just love. www.metrotimes.com/detroit-guid...

I'm part of the annual Detroit Metro Times fiction issue again, with a poem called "Seance." The broad theme for this year's issue is documented/undocumented. The online edition is out now, print June 25. Both editions are free. A great way to hear what Detroit is saying.

I'm pretty sure a $4 pledge right now would like, rebalance the universe or something. www.kickstarter.com/projects/att...

More detail on the plan! I know we can do this! And if you're a writer or artist and love this effort, we would welcome donations of short stories or digital art to sell on the page, all proceeds going toward these translations. Shares are also wonderful. Let's do it! ko-fi.com/africantrans...

I'm so excited about these! Let's sing together! 🎶

And to those of us who were bullied in school - I see you. Even when you're quiet. Believe in who you are. Remember, people automatically follow the cool kids to avoid abuse, even when the cool kids are wrong. We do not have to. We can use our own judgment, find each other, and stand together.

Many of us have seen how closely linked being told to separate away our emotions is linked to control and abuse.

A lot of neurodivergent / neuroqueer authors are also scarred from abuse and have learned to recognize and reject it fiercely for our own survival. And so when people support, actively or tacitly, our abusers and blame us for being unprofessional toward them, it affects us greatly.

A lot of neurodivergent authors rely on community, on holding each other up. On chosen family. And our experiences are not separated by what is considered work; we live with our whole hearts. When people come at community and family rather than exploitation and dishonesty, it affects us greatly.

You know, there are moments I'm like why do I feel so bad and then I remember I have clinical depression, ptsd, an existential uterus, people who turned their backs on me without even a conversation, and global dismantling of freedom. Oh. Well they won't stop me from smiling and dancing! *dances*
