Bill 43 officially became law, adding gender expression to Manitoba’s Human Rights Code as a protected right. This is a major step forward in helping to prevent discrimination based on how people express their gender. Congrats to everyone in Manitoba on this important human rights victory.

The term transgender refers to a person whose gender identity does not correspond with what is socially expected based on their sex assigned at birth. It can be used as an umbrella term to refer to a range of gender identities and experiences.

Today marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) — a global moment to stand in solidarity with 2SLGBTQI communities and spotlight the urgent need to confront hate and discrimination.
