Last week, DHL Express Canada locked out workers and started bringing in scabs, just days before federal anti-scab legislation comes into effect. Now, DHL is asking the government for an exemption from the law. I spoke to workers on the picket line in Richmond, BC for @pressprogress.ca

in a sensible world, this wouldn’t be behind a patent barrier and would be quickly and freely rolled out to everyone who needs it

Seeing my prime minister shake hands with a man behind the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil turns my stomach. Mark Carney will talk about rule of law and human rights, but at the end of the day, it’s economy, economy, economy, no matter the cost.

This article from @natashabulowski.bsky.social for @nationalobserver.com is a must read! It lays out what's happened so far with Bill C-5, and gives good background on what's at stake. Stay tuned – fed Committee on Transport, Infrastructure + Communities is set to report back to the House on Fri.

Though Mississauga City Centre has the amenities of a major urban centre, it still has too many trappings of a suburban motorway. More needs to be done to protect pedestrians and cyclists, especially along Burnhamthorpe Road. seanmarshall.ca/2025/06/12/d...

LifeLabs’ BC strike might be over, but workers are still worried about its new American owner. Quest Diagnostics, a US healthcare behemoth, sees LifeLabs as providing a "strong foundation" for expansion into Canada: pressprogress.ca/lifelabs-bc-...

Over 200 people dead, no survivors known so far. How many people have to die before we hold profit-deadly corporations like Boeing accountable? How many whistleblowers is it going to take?

made a little comic last year but posting it today for fun

Elon Musk gutted the federal government, dismantled key institutions, and cut off food and medicine to some of the poorest people on the planet. By leaving DOGE, he’s trying to restore his reputation and rescue his struggling businesses. He should never be allowed to recover.

It's a depressing time in Toronto - a city that once had the continent's most ambitious city-building initiative. This transformation had 3 KEY PILLARS: 1. RapidTO 2. GO Expansion 3. Ontario Line Two pillars have been watered down beyond recognition - DEVASTATING for the region. Here's why: 1/🧵

Nothing like Canadian exceptionalism. We run trains better than those snobby Europeans! “Sources, however, say Deutsche Bahn pushed for ambitious, European-style changes, while some of the Crown agency’s leadership resisted, insistent that things work differently in Canada. Deutsche”

“we’re going to learn nothing from the past two decades to try to capitalize on a short-term economic opportunity that likely won’t even pan out”

lol lmao

9 times out of 10 the problem is consulting the public on random technical items, but this time it sure looks like senior management at a crown corporation deliberately tanked a multi-billion dollar direction from the elected government because they didn't like the project.

Carney promised a ‘new relationship’ with the U.S.—but now says he’d back Trump’s reckless 'Golden Dome'. His reversal reflects a long-standing push from Canada’s corporate lobby for deeper military integration with the U.S., @nikbarryshaw.bsky.social writes. breachmedia.ca/trumps-golde...

This is what the Canadian PM @mark-carney.bsky.social posts on the other site as Israel commits an act of piracy in complete violation of international law. As millions are being starved to death and children are being murdered for seeking food. Complete moral abdication.

Carney is going to so severely shift the economy further into the private sector. He’s signalled massive cuts to everything but resource extraction and the military. This is a conservative government.

Canadian households spent an average of $76,750 on goods & services in 2023, up 14.3% over 2021. This boost in spending was largely driven by the surge in inflation (+10.9%) which took the wind out of the sails of the post-pandemic recovery and hit low income households hard 🧵https://bit.ly/43x7DVL

Canada Post wants to create a new class of flexible, part-time worker that will better compete with Amazon and implement “dynamic routing” so delivery routes can be changed on the fly. It’s a good example of how Amazon degrades workers’ rights even beyond its walls. Workers are right to push back.
