A 10/10 from me. Very insightful read (or listen in my case) exploring concepts about plants that I think, more so after this book, are generally overlooked. The world of plants and botany is so intriguing and the occasional flowery language makes it very digestible and engaging.

Another environmental banger of a book. Great for shifting how you may think of wildlife from something far away, and into an everyday perspective of how we interact with the natural world. Not 100% sure I agree with some aspects about invasive species, but still thought provoking. 4.5/5

10/10 would recommend. Ended up being much more than I went in expecting and expanded how I now view the world. It somehow perfectly meshes biology, ecology, virology, religion, culture, and story telling into a compelling analysis/argument.

@moreperfectunion.bsky.social these billboards are AMAZING. Protect our parks/monuments and especially as Musk seems to be slipping from the media spotlight as of late, keep the pressure on DOGE. Our National Parks and Monuments aren't something to cut or an exploitable resource.

The Oxford comma is, as Elle Cordova said, vestigial. Get rid of that extra punctuation. I'll die on this hill.

Why I can't trust horror movie review summed up in 2 comments.

Any DC movie that has @markhamillofficial.bsky.social as the Joker immediately jumps a letter grade.

4.5/5 an amazing horror novel that had me wanting to keep turning the page. God I need to know what's on tape 15... Very excited to get my hands/eyes on book 2. @wendingus.bsky.social

A plea to comic letterers: please stop using bolded words so much. It really loses the impact after the 8th one on a page and messes with the flow (looking at you "Something is Killing the Children" and "House of Slaughter", even if you're my favorite comic run at the moment).

*most people in southern Arizona* "oh God I'm not ready for summer heat, we're already getting to the 90s!" *me* BRING THE HEAT! MY LIZARD BLOOD CRAVES THE HEAT! *remembers it's March and we're breaking record temps because of climate change* oh no, my lizard blood is less thrilled.

@merriam-webster.com maybe y'all could help me out. Why does the letter "W" sound like it has 3 syllables? Just because it sounds like "double U"?

Don't be silent. Don't be complacent. Find and contact your representatives on every level. They represent you, so be loud until they act like it. www.usa.gov/elected-officials/

Received the 2nd best accidental compliment I've ever gotten today. A grown woman, followed shortly by a small child, both mistook me for a librarian while checking out my holds. Gonna be riding this high the rest of the week.

A great alternative at Amazon owned platform GoodReads, StoryGraph. You can export/import your GoodReads lists as well. thestorygraph.com

Been a while since I've gone to the library on a Saturday. Made me smile seeing how many people were using it.

Oops 😬

Took me 30 seconds and these guys are 👌

I really wish there was a "turn off" option for AI. I don't need Copilot messing up my docs, Google summarizing the Wikipedia section a URL down, or my email wanting to write everything.

Going to the library counter with +$100 worth of graphic novels and paying nothing, just remember to bring them back in like 3 weeks, is an amazing feeling. Finding the worst movies they offer and watching with buddies, literally and metaphorically priceless. Libraries are amazing institutions.

Can someone in the sciences, particularly environmental/conservation sciences, give me a glimpse at your work and your likes/dislikes? Debating on going back to school for the environmental sciences but not 100% sure.

Going through Facebook comments on my work page (part of the job) and it's really depressing how many horrific comments I have to delete/hide. Social media truly showcases how terrible some of humanity is.

I love being a big horror fan because at a certain point you start looking at movies with a 4/10 and think "oh damn this must actually be pretty decent".

Just a reminder: "better" doesn't always mean "good'. Just because something is better now doesn't mean it's necessarily good.

I never thought my favorite franchise would be "Arkham Horror", a board game that spawned a universe of games and books. @fantasyflightgames.bsky.social www.ArkhamHorror.com

Jason Voorhees is my favorite slasher, but damn Art the Clown for Terrifier is quickly catching up. Not a fan of how supernatural Terrifier 3 got but still giving it a B+

I don't know how to tell my grandparents the emojis they're using don't have the implications they think they do...

I've got 8 different versions of weird based on who I am with, and it's awkward when one of those weirds interacts with the wrong group and I get looks of concern... I swear it's normal, just not in this group.

Shout out to the single folks who went to a party and had to suffer while all the couples kissed.

I love the environmental stuff Carter did, however let's remember who took the solar panels off the White House, Regan.

Start your New Year resolutions now so you can say you've been doing it since last year.

Bureaucratic office jobs are funny between Christmas and New Years. 40% of people seem to be off 40% didn't take it off, but realistically they took it off And 20% are still waiting on emails from the other 80% and won't be holding their breath for a response anytime soon.

I love that there's basically real world Pokemon Go. If everyone you're hiking with has this, it's fun to make a game out of it. iNaturalist 10/10 play.google.com/store/apps/d...

I'm so tired of having to use Meta for work. Running that page on Facebook I see so many apprehensible comments. There's one profile especially who loves to comment so much xenophobic stuff under any post, regardless of what it's about.

There's growing momentum to hold executives legally accountable for their firms actions: public good needs to balance against shareholder profits. Proposals for a new law could see the bosses of major polluters jailed for up to 20 years. This will be introduced at Holyrood (Scotland) next year.

PSA if you need a cheap gift for someone who likes games, get them "The Mind"! If it were the apocalypse and I only had one item of entertainment, it'd be that game. Super easy to learn, SO hard to win. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/24...

David Guetta really spent so much time trying to find the right words to describe this girl without being disrespectful, and settled on "sexy bitch".
