It's fascinating to watch people pretend that regulating a new industry built on wholesale theft is just so gosh darn complicated, tying themselves in knots to avoid admitting that corporations are just stealing content, content they agree is so valuable they couldn't make their products without it.

Many of the institutions that are supposedly "complying in advance" aren't in fact doing this. They are institutions that were already filled with conservatives and others who actually don't mind authoritarianism and fascism. In fact, many have supported versions of both for years. Some of you know.

Again, the problem with this entire thesis, is that if we look at all of the supposed drivers: homelessness, poverty, ineffective education, being targeted for gambling and get rich quick schemes, Black men in the US are the *most* targeted. And yet they are the *least* likely to be Tate fans. 🙂🙃

I strongly encourage people to read this accessible piece on a complex issue. I particularly appreciate Nathan emphasizing something I’ve also repeatedly brought up, which is any failures to service the US debt, whether accidental or purposeful, would be economically catastrophic at a global level.
