No kings in Chicago

Yes, there are more important things, but My So Called Life is now available on Hulu.

This is partly why I write a book about the theater. Because art is resistance, and we should know its history.

While LA is once again burning, George Clooney showed today the power of art, of truth, and how to speak up. The question is, as Murrow said, is not what unchecked power would do, the question is what you are going to do about it. #GNGL

In celebration and anticipation of CNN live showing of Good Night, and Good Luck tomorrow, here is a short thread about art, the theater, the role of journalism, and resistance, especially to fascism. πŸ—ƒοΈ/1 www.cnn.com/2025/06/06/e...

It’s bathing suits season and what a better thing than to discuss the latest SI swimsuit event and the role of aging bodies in public. Thank you @nicolefallert.bsky.social for the opportunity. www.usatoday.com/story/life/h...

Grab a copy of my book #DressedforFreedom and many other good books from the press. All 50% off! πŸ—ƒ

Founded by a Jew, whose family escaped prosecution by coming to the US, Levi's keeps the legacy of its founder, who was very well aware what is like to be a minority discriminated against. www.thepinknews.com/2025/05/29/l...

Enjoyed talking with @nicolefallert.bsky.social about the new trend of gym clothes, and why we stop policing women's bodies. Check it out: www.usatoday.com/story/life/h...

Post a character who looks good wet

Worth noting that while Oklahoma! was a hit that really changed Broadway and is the one that remembered today, it shattered the record of another no less important musical on Broadway--Pins and Needles--a ILGWU production with garment workers that in many ways enabled musicals like Oklahoma! #HATM

Susan Brownmiller has died. AGAINST OUR WILL, published 50 years ago this fall, was a landmark book about rape and misogyny that shaped so much subsequent scholarship.

Better late than never, and always nice to be included in @americanstudier.bsky.social #ScholarSunday threads, especially the milestone ones πŸ˜‰

Someone just bombed a reproductive health clinic in California. www.latimes.com/california/s...

Was writing today about the Kennedy Center in connection to my project on #PinsAndNeedles. Like in the 1930s, work and theater are connected. Work is work, whether you do it in the factory or on stage, and in both places it deserves rights and protection.
