New York Times opinion columnist Nicholas Kristof penned a piece over the Memorial Day weekend that detailed the ongoing corruption in President Donald Trump's White House.

The people of Missouri made it very clear: They wanted abortion rights (at least until fetal viability). Alas, the Missouri Supreme Court doesn’t seem to be inclined to listen.

A new Colorado law will let people donate their unused and unopened prescription drugs so that other patients can access them for free or a minimal cost. By @sarawilson.bsky.social

In Serbia, protests against government and corruption keep growing — but so does repression. ✊🏼🇷🇸 Police violence is rising. Media is controlled. Courts are stuck. Students are being silenced. 📢🚨 #SerbiaProtests #HumanRights

As their protests over the deadly Novi Sad train station disaster continue, the university students in Serbia have found surprising allies.

@maddow.msnbc.com your opening essay brought me to tears. Every Canadian should watch how you tie protests in Serbia with recent elections including ours with pro-democracy movement rising in America. It is a global movement to stop authoritarianism many of us are passionate about. 🇨🇦💪🏻🇨🇦 #ElbowsUp

New: A judge blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to crush Harvard’s ability to enroll foreign students hours after the university sued.

But don’t let facts get in the way.

Dear Immigration Jusges: STOP HOLDING IN PERSON HEARINGS!! ICE is ambushing people at your courthouses, who are trying to play by the rules. REMOTE hearings only!!!

Phang: It’s time for federal judges to acknowledge that they have lifetime appointments—and that should give them the courage to uphold the rule of law, but also to put some damn teeth into the court orders they’re issuing. it’s time that we start seeing action from the judiciary. Grow some balls

If you need a little hope this morning

A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from firing thousands of workers at the Department of Education, ruling that the announced terminations were a thinly veiled effort to dismantle the entire department without congressional approval.

The MAGA movement’s top economic guru is not happy about the GOP’s “big, beautiful” domestic policy bill. “I liken it to a death march through a series of choices that nobody really wanted to be making," Oren Cass says in an interview with POLITICO Magazine.

It's the stuff of middle school civics to say that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a free press. Yet we have largely skirted around the question of how to institutionalize these democratic imperatives. What is the role of public policy? (1/5) jacobin.com/2025/05/publ...

🚨 Buried deep in a bill outlining Republican tax cuts for the wealthy is language pulled from speech-chilling H.R. 9495, dubbed the 'Nonprofit Killer' bill. After an all-night session this dangerous bill passed the House Ways & Means Committee along party lines. www.freepress.net/news/house-c...

"So if the media were going to put their thumb on the scale – as they inevitably do – they ought to have done so in defense of democracy, the rule of law and human decency. The failure to do so is playing out in our shattered world." That's by Margaret Sullivan. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
