In addition to Trump's horrifying efforts to wield military power against his constituents, there's the indignity that our tax dollars are funding the kind of argument you'd expect from a 5-year-old storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

In the past week, a union leader has been arrested, a U.S. Rep charged with a crime, a U.S. Senator violently handcuffed, and reporters shot with rubber bullets and detained. There is no ambiguity. This is a regime operating as an authoritarian. Americans who believe in liberty must oppose it.

Earlier this week, I saw this "Overview of EU Legislations in the Digital Sector" chart at the Stanford Digital Economy Best Practices Conference flic.kr/p/2rameye I could spend a lifetime pondering it 😵

Using litigation threats as a coercive weapon is called "lawfare," and it's the kind of conduct the FTC should actually investigate. Also, any story that mentions X's purported revenue increases should highlight that some advertisers are advertising there under duress www.wsj.com/business/med...

Has anyone seen this kind of thing in any other context? A federal judge being like "we’ve got to shut this whole litigation model down until we can figure out what is going on"?

leftists: that thing you teach us in school to be terrified of is happening historians: that thing is definitely happening star wars: here is a beat-for-beat breakdown of how the thing happens, but with pew pew lasers. we know you watched it news outlets: these protesters are out of control

🚨 Judge Kness stays ALL pending Schedule A cases before him to reevaluate whether the extraordinary relief granted to Plaintiffs is a proper use of judicial discretion. Looks like the Schedule A scam may be ending? 👀 R. Corp v. Schedule A, No. 1 25 cv 6337 (NDIL June 9, 2025)

Santa Clara Law's Tech Edge JD class of 2024 graduates had 100% employment 10 months after graduation (12% higher than the overall SCU Law '24 placement rate) 📈👏 law.scu.edu/news-events/... An explanation of the Tech Edge JD program's efficacy papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

"We do not want to be on the wrong side of history...The country is burning down. Our infrastructure is burning down. Whether the outcome of this investigation is preordained should not determine our ability...to take a stand, fight for what we believe in, and ask the government to do their job."

My new estimates re. Schedule A Defendants (SAD Scheme) cases: * 7,700 total cases, 40% of those filed since 1/1/24 📈 * 1.5M SAD Scheme defendants * $600M court filing fees not paid due to SAD Scheme * 70% of cases are ™️ cases, 20% ©️, 10% patent * 88% in N.D. Ill. #StopTheSADScheme

Okay so the Third Amendment jokes are funny obviously but there's also a deeper point, I think: Trump is more alike the exact things the Founding generation were afraid of than anything the country has faced in the interim

FTC's latest move is to see how many trans kids they can kill. This is dangerous and beyond stupid, and way beyond anything the FTC is supposed to have authority over.

Things that make me happy: Overheard two in-house counsel at the Digital Economy Best Practices conference talking about how they select outside counsel: GC 1: "The first thing I do is check the list on Above the Law to make sure the firm didn't capitulate to Trump" GC 2: "Me too!"

“Tasted a little tear gas— tasted like fascism”

Reminder that this country had an insurrection on Jan 6 and Trump refused to send in the National Guard.

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

Last year, the Anderson v. TikTok ruling imperiled Section 230 defenses in the 3d Cir. & across the country. TikTok didn't appeal to SCOTUS. On remand, the Anderson case has now been transferred into the Social Media Addiction MDL in ND Cal www.jpml.uscourts.gov/sites/jpml/f...

I loathe Musk as much as anyone else but for a sitting president to openly threaten a private citizen over what political donations he or she chooses to make is a reminder of how authoritarian this country is becoming by the day - by the hour even!

The truth is out there: a significant chunk of the UFO anecdotes are directly attributable to the US government lying to its employees & the public for decades www.wsj.com/politics/nat...

So... according to Greenblatt, Elon doing the Nazi salute wasn't so bad. But students protesting... What a fucking disaster the ADL is. What a joke.

Across the government, the Trump administration is scrambling to rehire many federal employees dismissed under DOGE’s staff-slashing initiatives after wiping out entire offices, in some cases imperiling key services such as weather forecasting and the drug approval process.

Very important read. A lot of people who should have known better supported this misguided bill as it became law. Despite some good intentions, it's badly written and likely to have a lot of bad unintended consequences. Worst of all, it creates a lot of opportunities for Trump to censor speech.

@jmiers230.bsky.social & I really do not like Congress' latest online censorship law, the "TAKE IT DOWN" Act. We wrote 8k+ words criticizing it blog.ericgoldman.org/archives/202...
