"Again and again, I arrived at the same conclusion without fail: no, my eyes did not deceive me and my standards are not too high and I’m not being unfair. That was, hands down, the worst military parade I’ve ever seen." charlotteclymer.substack.com/p/the-worst-...

This is the best piece I've read on Trump's trans military ban. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u...

If you know anyone who is in the California National Guard or 2/7 Marines who are deployed to Los Angeles, @taskandpurpose.com would like to hear from them. What the last week has been like, what their conditions are, if they're getting BAH, etc. They can reach me on signal @ nslayton.12

BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts (the Reagan-appointed William Young) has declared the Trump administration's cuts to NIH grants — ostensibly over Trump's EOs on gender ideology and DEI — are "illegal" and "void." He's ordering many grants restored.

A federal judge has blocked President Trump's springtime executive order on elections. “The Constitution does not grant the president any specific powers over elections,” wrote Judge Denise Casper. www.theguardian.com/...

I encourage everyone to consider attending one of the many demonstrations planned for tomorrow across the country. Show up. Demand accountability. Peacefully protest. Find the rally closest to you: NoKings.org

Season 4 Episode 1 is out! The 85th anniversary of the First transport to Auschwitz. Join Alina, Zane & Chris as we tak about the context of the Camp, invasion, Nazi Terror and the arrests. #history #podcast #ww2 Spotify open.spotify.com/episode/074t... Apple podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

Another friendly reminder of which countries started WWII in Europe -- Nazi Germany and their ally at the time, the Soviet Union, when they invaded Poland in September 1939.

It is bizarre the way people with guns, bulletproof vests, riot shields, tanks, and other military gear act like rocks are an equal threat. It’s madness! If you are scared of rocks and think the punishment for having them thrown at you should be death, you shouldn’t be in law enforcement!

Oregon just passed a law stopping schools from banning books just because LGBTQ+ people wrote them - buff.ly/ldyxPTp

@pelosi.house.gov: "On January 6th...we begged the president of the United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it...And yet, in a contra-constitutional way, he has sent the National Guard into California. Something is very wrong with this picture."

Newsom: This Saturday, he's ordering our American heroes, the United States military, and forcing them to put on a vulgar display to celebrate his birthday, just as other failed dictators have done in the past

As the US Army celebrates it 250th birthday, Trump is celebrating the enemy that tried to defeat it.

Newsom: "Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived. He's taking a wrecking ball to our Founding Father's historic project."

This is a very important and accurate point. At the height of the Iraq War, the U.S. had 175,000 troops mobilized to cover a country the size of California with only 75% of the population. It was not enough.

i think southern baptists should probably consider a ban on being led by child predators

💯

Contrast is so clear: Do you want to live in Trump's America where disease spread, free speech is physically attacked and everything from government contracts to science depends on the whim of the mad king OR do you want to live in a free country, with vaccines and decisions based on merit

Why are we celebrating traitors that fired upon US soldiers in a bid to keep people enslaved?

He stood in front of our troops today and gave a mean spirited, partisan speech. He stood in front of our troops today and attacked Americans by name. He stood in front of our troops today and goaded them into booing their fellow Americans. Never become desensitized to this.

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving. There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later. They. Are. Breaking. The. Law.

Go libraries!

Watching the right now oppose the part of the second amendment that guarantees a well regulated militia under state control is… something.

Regular liberal people must come to understand that there is no way you can appease Nazis and especially that there is no way that you can shrink yourself so they won't hurt you. Their main goal is to hurt you.

We're liveblogging events in CA here talkingpointsmemo.com/live-blog/tr...

This is what Capitol Police expected him to do on Jan 6. He didn’t.

I know one thing. If I were a young blonde, white woman, and a police officer shot me ON CAMERA, my settlement would be large enough to have its own itemized line on LA's yearly budget.

Don't wear goggles to a protest unless they're rated shatter resistant. You're better off with NO eye protection than eyewear that will send shards of plastic into your eye. If you can't find shatterproof goggles, get lacrosse goggles. Cheap and effective eye protection from larger munitions.

These are the proactive steps states need to be taking right now. Another thing: every Democratic governor needs to have a sit-down now with the state adjutant general to carefully review that person's understanding of their responsibilities to their state, its citizens and the federal constitution.

I’m seeing all these debates here about whether violence can be justified in some circumstances. That’s not helpful. It is beside the point. This is a battle over legitimacy and the field of that battle is public opinion. This is a flagrant abuse of power. It is a crisis entirely of the Presidents..

SHARE: If you are National Guard or Active Duty military and you are being ordered to violate the constitutional rights of US citizens then this is the number to the GI Rights Hotline. There is support. You don’t have to go through with it. 877-447-4487

Who keeps us safe? We keep us safe 🇺🇸

Game this out, and then figure out how to protect you and your family this summer: Trump just misused a federal provision not used in 60 years—and then only used to *protect demonstrators*—that requires imminent risk of Rebellion. If he'd do this for some minor, peaceful LA protests, what's coming?

Totally normal stuff in a democracy with “states’ rights”: Trump’s border czar threatens California’s governor, and the L.A. mayor is warned they could face arrest.

The New York Times has been useless for a long time. Patriotic Americans don't read the NYT.

🇩🇪 German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told Fox News that had Ukraine been accepted into NATO back in 2008, today’s war might have been avoided. He added that only strength brings peace. "If you are weak, you invite aggression, that is why we support Ukraine as long as necessary."

Russia has carried out more terrorist attacks on Kyiv, Ukraine, even targeting first responders who were trying to save victims. This is what Ukraine endures daily. Ukraine hits military equipment with 0 civilian casualties, Russia hits innocent men, women and children.

Musk cannot be “turned”, “flipped”, “allied” with. He is a Nazi and he’s killed 300,000 people, mostly children. Anyone considering taking his political contributions or discussing allying with him has no moral compass nor should they be near power.

this must’ve been how Winston Churchill felt when Hitler broke Molotov-Ribbentrop

Many Americans will die because of this.

The Founders never imagined that a Congress like this could exist. Until this changes, our constitutional crisis will continue.

Trump dismantles a 164-year-old history project. #TrumpWarOnKnowledge www.washingtonpost.com/history/2025...

Totally inappropriate and really unprecedented for a cabinet secretary to overtly intervene in an election of an ally like this. And even more wildly (though unsurprisingly) on behalf of the pro-authoritarian party.
