Good Night World

Thank you Greyhound!

1. Clay Jackson, a Texas lawyer, provided basic legal advice to an immigrant family fearing deportation Then, two officers visited him at his home, accusing him of "obstructing an ongoing immigration investigation" Then, after speaking publicly, he was fired from his job at a Fortune 500 company

I think that the tariffs debacle is going to be more destructive than I can imagine right now and I feel like I'm in a slow motion dream walking in drying cement.

People are NOT understanding what empty cargo ships from China means. It means no work for dock workers. No work for truck drivers, no work for retailers, fewer dollars circulating. The cascade effect is just mind boggling.

A US citizen with a learning disability who has just suffered a medical emergency asks a CBP officer for directions outside the emergency room. He ends up detained in an icebox for ten days and has the assistant secretary of DHS lying about him to the public at large. popular.info/p/us-citizen...

If you are barred and an active member of the DC bar, please login and vote today! Diane Seltzer for president. Please go vote! Turn out will likely be low, so every vote matters!

Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

Abrego Garcia & MS-13. What do we know? The allegation seems to stem from double hearsay in a document authored by a later suspended detective. By me, in @lawfare . www.lawfaremedia.org/article/abre...

92% of Black and 78% of Black men knew. Black people in America have lived under fascism longer than we have democracy. We know what it looks & feels like.

This is really sad. Americans have jumped the shark. Its all over but the shouting.

It is worth remembering that this political interference with universities began in the South around 2018. The oppressive tactics used to terrorize people in the south always metastasized to the entire country.Ignore what is happening in the south at your own peril. It eventually comes for everyone.

I'm truly not interested in a political project that "restores" the US. I only care about one that completely transforms it.

Disappearing people without any due process is fascism — full stop. I’m sick to my stomach and we all should be.

Some people love to invoke the Black Panther Party. Are you all aware of what the US government did to the Panthers? Are you aware that some Panthers [the ones they didn't kill] are STILL in prison today?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Acting IRS commissioner to resign over deal to share immigrants’ tax data with ICE to help deport them, AP sources say.

If you asked most people in this country to come up with $1000 immediately, they couldn't. THIS is where the country has been for years.

True. Also true that a lot of Americans burned things the last five years. Our militarized police attacked them and I believe there are credible accounts of assassinations.

It’s so weird how we’re all just working like this is still a normal country.

Some have extremely short memories. As most of you on here lived through the past 15 years of uprisings led by Black people and others & saw the state bring TANKS into city streets, TEAR GAS folks for days on end, disappear leaders, frame them for crimes they didn't commit etc... & yet here you are.

I am waiting for the day when people (including pollsters) learn that when people say they’re voting on the economy, it’s often because it’s a socially acceptable front for other, not socially acceptable reasons.

The reason that the US is locking up tourists for weeks in hellish detention centers rather than letting them book tickets back home is because the detention centers are owned by corporations. They are charging the taxpayers fortunes to cage these people, and making bonanzas off their suffering.

RFK is a eugenics freak first and foremost and everything falls downstream from that. he *wants* excess deaths. he thinks that only the "fit" should survive.

They are priming Americans to accept war & isolationist policies. Super scary

Judge Amy Berman Jackson grants an injunction preventing Russ Vought from firing CFPB employees. He must reinstate probationary/term employees, provide office space, restore the consumer complaint process, & rescind all contract terminations. The CFPB putsch has failed.

💯💯

One of the first lessons about litigation that I teach my students is that a court order or judgment is just a piece of paper. It is the Enforcement of that piece of paper. that matters. Let us see what Enforcement looks like. www.newsweek.com/rubio-touts-...

Murphy: "If we continue to observe norms, if we continue to engage in business as usual, this democracy could be gone. I don't think we have a year to save American democracy. I think the way the president is acting ... puts out democracy at immediate risk."

re the previous repost: if they can disappear permanent residents they can disappear citizens

www.wunc.org/environment/... The cuts to the “tree equity” program are so upsetting. Here is a good example of the correlation btw tree inequity and redlining.

Cities used redlining maps to determine where they would plant trees.Redlined black areas got “no tree” whereas green-lined white areas got trees.Trees have significant environmental and health benefits. They also substantially improve one’s property value. Tree equity is much needed reparations.

Black people in America feel the same way.

This. The stories my 80 year old mother who grew up in Arkansas has…

Something to understand about the nazi salute nonsense is that back during Reconstruction there was a cottage industry of Klan denial, where Democratic papers would pretend the KKK didn't exist or point to their stupid rituals as evidence they were a Republican delusion or otherwise harmless
