I gave a talk to 50 high schoolers today, who are visiting Yale for a summer leadership program. They all use AI, many every day, for every task you can imagine. And they also know it is not a great thing that they are doing this. They know they are deskilling themselves.

Today there was an optional talent show at our 8yo's school. According to her one kid sang a song in Japanese, another sang "Anxiety" by Doechii. But by far my favorite is the kid who vowed to eat an entire snack bag of Cheetos in 35 seconds as his talent, only to fail to do so.

This hits particularly hard because we live in a 105 year old house and the previous owner became a house flipper during Detroit’s bankruptcy years. This man made so many baffling, lazy choices. My partner still bemoans the number of stripped screws.
