CALL TO ACTION: If you care about… •affordable housing •reducing climate impacts •building local power Several housing bills are going before the Minnesota Legislative Committees this week. Join @sustainstpaul.bsky.social at the Capitol THIS WEEK! Signups: www.sustainstpaul.org/news/a4achrb...

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too. Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more. Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

calling is real. calls work. they don’t always get what you want — nothing in life does. that’s not a reason to not try, if you can.

Don't know what to do? 1/4: Pick two things you care most deeply about. Give money, time, and your body to them, through small, local, collective actions whenever possible.

1. Trans rights are human rights. 2. Fight misinformation: Gender affirming care saves lives. 3. Fight misinformation: No child is having their body parts cut off. 4. Fight misinformation: Puberty blockers are a pause that can save lives.

It’s been almost seven months since I broke my foot… And wow, does it feel good to get back on my bike. Ran four errands. Felt the wind on my face. Way less painful than walking at this stage of my long recovery. Hopefully next time I’ll remember my neck gaiter!

@batjamesquita.bsky.social followed me!!! 🚨🚨🚨🌈🥴

Call these restaurants and go and pick up take out. DoorDash and UberEats are killing these places.

The spouse is watching Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and it reminded me of this Pink Floyd video I saw as a kid, long forgotten. With a rewatch, I can’t deny how deeply it shaped my views of capitalism. youtu.be/fn1R-5p_j5c?...

The three hardest parts of my job: 1. Convincing people to be patient with systems change—A LOT of which is unlearning white supremacy culture.

On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, let’s recognize how safe bike infrastructure benefits everyone. Protected bike lanes make streets safer for everyone, including people with disabilities. Inclusive design means better mobility for everyone! 🌍♿🚲 www.itpworld.net/news-and-vie...

Well, Mom, you can rest a little easier tonight… The union organizing you did for decades is protected again. No need to roll over again in that grave. …But there’s plenty I’d like you to curse. I trust your judgment.

I would love it if people talked about disability access, universal design, and the citizen’s fundamental right to the city more often—not just when the Department of Transportation wants to install a speed bump.

It’s that time of year again… •Roasted a few wee pie pumpkins… •Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins with my teenager tomorrow morning… •Pumpkin pie for Thursday dinner… •Nabbed a bottle of Torani Pumpkin Pie Syrup JILL! You gotta try it! JILLLLLLLL!

Thinking about joy this morning and how crucial it is... How to cultivate it. Attuning to the sensory world… Flirtation, games, and wordplay… Dancing, walking, biking, hiking… Music that makes you want to sing and dance…

This post from @streets.mn is amazing, an all-timer. These maps and illustrations captures my emotions so well. streets.mn/2023/09/05/1...

Bluesky tip for newbies: Bluesky has no real algorithm. Likes here do nothing but show the poster that you enjoyed their content. That kindness is always going to be appreciated by creators, but if you want to help to boost something here, you have to repost it so others see it. 🙂

resolved: people who insist that all social media sites must be places where users are constantly encountering and arguing with people over fundamental disagreement do so because their actual, real lives are echo chambers where they do not encounter any meaningful difference from day-to-day.

This morning’s memoir-writing task: Choreograph an exorcism to Mötley Crüe’s “Shout at the Devil.” Libretto portions included references to The Exorcist. Wish me luck!

At a relax-a-con, themed for marshmallows versus hotdogs. It’s pretty good.
