When someone does something to you that has remained unaddressed for a long time and their further behaviour causes you to react negatively why is it that you are seen as the bad person and not them when their original behaviour remains unaddressed

This guy headed off to his new intermediate eventing family competiton home on Friday . I’m gutted it didn’t work out but he needed more of a job than I could ever give him and it’s what’s best for him that matters. I’m bereft but judging by this he’ll be just fine 😭
