In an alternative universe, Photoshop didn't become the main image editor... Instead losing out to GIMP... And no longer do people complain about photoshopped images... Only gimped ones...

How stuff like this doesn't get caught in a basic edge case test set is incredible to be seeing yet again from the bigger companies...

Realised talking with friends that there was a general switch in gaming and we can't place when it happened... Why did we go from having separate vFoV and hFoV sliders to mainly just hFoV. The games we have control over both also have the lowest freq. for triggering motion sickness. #gamedev

I just read the phrase "Blockity Block!" And now I can't stop hearing the lily savage blankety blank intro in my head...

Seeing how various people are interacting with AI systems in increasing methods tending towards acrophily in order to fabricate evidence supporting their viewpoint feels like an upcoming research paper topic...

Disturbing to see yet another PC building company go this way...

As far as conspiracy theories go, I feel like hearing someone talk about how cloud computing is making use of actual physical clouds in the atmosphere at least gets a participation trophy for continuing to prove the full extent of the spectrum of human understanding...

Well, seems the scammers are back around to steam gift card phishing scams in prep. for the Autumn Sale. Be aware if you start getting links like this, chances are they are going to redirect you to the worst spelt variations of "steamcommunity" you are ever going to see. Careful what you click on!

Sci Rep 14, 26133 (2024) has to be one of the most curious examples of AI related biases I've read about lately. Interesting to see data showing how just changing whether being told the poetry is ai generated, human written or told nothing at all can have such a noticeable skew on rated quality.

Sometimes my brain likes to give me flashes of nicer memories. Right now it decided that I absolutely had to remember a tech callout job I did around 15 years ago where as a family effort internet explorer had over 30 different toolbars installed, and the desktop was full of "Free" software...

As the years go on, I swear that people are wanting topics of ever growing complexity to be addressed in fewer and fewer words. Yet, I can't help but wonder if most of them do it from some intent of exhibiting belief perseverance.

To the surprise of no-one...

What is the world coming to when you can't even talk about simple things like killing orphaned children, killing the oldest child to spawn a new one, and promoting a slave because the master has died, without getting odd looks from those nearby... #programming

It seems that with googles AI overviews becoming more prevalent, and with it's seeming lack of any general mainstay validation controls, there is a growing subset of vulnerable people who are going to be directed into another wave of "Google said it, so it's true".

Barring the doxing, When I recieve messages with lines like this one, there is one part of me that has a laugh... and another part that wants to reply correcting their mistakes but also to get the clarity over whether they just want to hang me in a gibbet... but just don't have the word for it...
