Guess what just arrived!! How Did You Count? by @triangleman.bsky.social and YES, it’s just as beautiful as it looks. What a gem! I’m not sharing, so please get your own: www.amazon.com/How-Did-You-...

No child enters school hating mathematics and thinking they'll leave school, identifying as "I'm not a math person." Join @fawnnguyen.bsky.social as we shift toward math instruction that empowers students to find joy and purpose in doing and talking about mathematics.

ANGLE RULERS. They are so so so much better than protractors.

I had plans tonight and couldn't make it to #ElemMathChat but I've had this conversation a LOT with teachers over the past month or so. Pull the rug out and spoil the answer. "213-87 is 126. Now prove it." IM (when it was just tasks) had a nice task about this with multiplying decimals.

#elemmathchat A7 try to build a culture that looks for thinking over answers. How many ways can we find to think about it? Have learners know that they will be sharing thinking and that I'm interested!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, EVERYONE!!! Have a wonderful rest of week and Happy Pi Eve! #ElemMathChat

Also, A7: I celebrate ‘messy thinking’ by asking students to share unfinished ideas and thought processes before they land on an answer. #ElemMathChat

Q8: I love @triangleman.bsky.social ‘s newest book so much and I think it belongs in every classroom and home library! www.amazon.com/Many-Countin... How many and how did you count? #ElemMathChat

A7: I use ‘wrong answers only’ rounds where students have to justify incorrect solutions, forcing them to slow down and analyze more carefully. #ElemMathChat
