One thing we know for certain tonight: Anthony Weiner lost his comeback bid for the New York City council. We don't know yet who will win the seat once the RCV is run, but it is mathematically impossible for Weiner to win.

Every single person who ever had a belief about how to win a campaign had those beliefs validated tonight, even the beliefs that contradict the other beliefs.

New York, you made a mistake.

Quote the profanity. This isn’t Sesame Street.

Dodgers won.

Ok, lets not go crazy

what does the Mamdani ground game look like? we hit the streets with volunteers all over the city to find out:

Just worried how this loss for Rivers Cuomo will impact the next Weezer album.

For @defector.com, I tried to figure out what's going on with John Fetterman's political memoir, ghostwritten by Buzz Bissinger It may not shock you to learn that Fetterman and Bissinger haven't gotten along (to put it politely), according to my sources defector.com/nobody-wants...

Sure it only set back the Iranian nuclear program a few months, but I'm sure that it also didn't embolden the government to double down on nuclear efforts.

Sky's turning dark, thunder rolling in. We're either gonna get an inch of rain in 15 minutes or it's all gonna miss us.

New Mexico U.S. Reps. Stansbury and Leger Fernandez voted against the motion to table impeachement of Trump. Rep. Vasquez voted for the motion to table. (Vote to table is a vote to kill the effort) #nmpol

I've really been enjoying the podcast "A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs" after @pguy.bsky.social told me about it last week. 500songs.com

I remember when Bill Richardson was running for president, he said he was a life-long fan of the Red Sox, but also a fan of the Yankees.

These days, Suarez runs like a man who has nothing left in his knees except tooth floss and a dry sponge, but he can still occassionally do stuff like this.

A great read from @anamariecox.bsky.social about the sinking ship that is Substack's and the danger of being left on board when it goes down. newsletter.anamariecox.com/archive/subs...

Going through old pictures of mine and I had forgotten about this 2008 campaign event with Howard Dean, Kal Penn and Derek Fisher.

Here's my dispatch from West Sacramento where we at SFGATE asked fans what they think of the Athletics refusing to put the city in the team name. www.sfgate.com/athletics/ar...

His body will lie in state at the Memphis airport for three days, then be delivered to its final resting place via Columbia, MO; Trenton, NJ; Springfield, MA; Charleston, SC; Bakersfield, CA; Trenton again for some reason; and will then register as "out for delivery" indefinitely.

I have a tough time believing people can't get their sports fix on Bluesky. There are so many starter packs. NBA: bsky.app/starter-pack... WNBA: bsky.app/starter-pack... NFL: bsky.app/starter-pack... NHL: bsky.app/starter-pack... MLB: bsky.app/starter-pack... Soccer: bsky.app/starter-pack...

Biblically accurate existential crisis

Yes Miranda rights

Nobody wants to talk about John Fetterman and Buzz Bissinger’s pricey memoir project: defector.com/nobody-wants...

I'm not sorry.

It's easy to say he shouldn't have been playing now but Tyrese wouldn't have been able to live with himself, he'd have thought about "what if I tried to play" for the rest of his life

Probably not a good sign that I got a few texts about Halliburton hurting himself all in a row

VOA’s Persian Service did not carry live President Trump’s speech about bombing Iran. The few remaining staffers describe a catastrophic failure due to Kari Lake’s removal of most of their colleagues. The video of the speech could not be uploaded to the VOA Farsi website for 12 hours.

Dodgers won.

I might be late to things but thinking of investing in 1-800-COLLECT

That Doomsday Clock gonna jump forward like it's the start of Daylight Saving Time.

The Constitution gives Congress, not the President, the power to declare war. War should not be entered into on a whim by a single person. We must do everything we can to protect American lives and our military in every base, in every place. Trump’s acts are unconstitutional. (1/2)

Congress — not any one president — has the constitutional authority to declare war. Military escalation in Iran puts American troops, our allies, and global stability at great risk. The American people want peace, not another prolonged war.
