Junior faculty job alert in Germany - Marine Evolutionary Genomics @geomarkiel.bsky.social / University of Kiel www.geomar.de/en/karriere/... Marine study system of your choice (no microbes, sorry…), excellent infrastructure and ship access, moderate teaching requirements, closing date 6 June

About 15-20 yrs ago, a bunch of reviews (inc. 1 by me) made predictions about the future of genomics in conservation. 1 yr ago at ICISB, Robin Waples assessed which of those predictions had been fulfilled. Sam May & Sam Rosenbaum now led the effort to turn this into a review: doi.org/10.1111/mec....

Excited to share our new paper on genetic differentiation in Atlantic silversides! We investigated how genome structure influences adaptation under varying levels of gene flow using a species-specific reference genome and multiple recombination maps. Read on for insights! doi.org/10.1093/molb... 1/7

‼️These #PSMC #peaks are #artifacts‼️ Seen #PSMC results like this🤔? They are caused by ill-set parameters, #very #common, and #easy #to #solve! For details see 🧵& OA paper @currentbiology.bsky.social 🙂🐢🧬🎉! cell.com/current-biol...

New job opening for a Professor/Reader/Senior Lecturer of Applied Animal Nutrition/Metabolomics/Microbiome within the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Closing date 4th March 2025. More information here: www.jobs.gla.ac.uk/job/professo...

I am a federally-funded scientist. People on this amazing effort were supported by federal grants. We must keep it that way. Shoutout to all the work of the folks who helped build the genome of the "Founding Fish", the American shad. academic.oup.com/gbe/article/...

American science and medicine has been thrown into chaos and uncertainty over the past week. Here are some stories to get up to speed. 1/12

[please share widely!] We have two PhD positions available at the Swedish Museum of Natural History: [Position 1] Birds, hybridization, genomes, island biology, biogeography, sexual selection 🦚, w/ me, Knud Jønsson, Martin Iredstedt and @stelkens.bsky.social et al recruit.visma.com/spa/public/a...

Extremely happy to share our latest work on the functional genetic basis of maturity age variation in Atlantic salmon! 🖥️🧬🦑🧪🐟 www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

A funded PhD is open on population genetics of the sheep scab mite, Psoroptes ovis, using genomic data to understand mite populations in the context of ongoing control programs. Co-supervised by a great team at @uofgsbohvm.bsky.social and Stew Burgess at MRI. More details at tinyurl.com/a873cvb4.

I have a fully funded PhD position in my lab on developmental genetics/evolution of gut development in lampreys + in vitro culture development. Get in touch if keen (see flyer 👇) and please share widely. Open to all nationalities. Funded through NorthWestBio DTP: www.gla.ac.uk/postgraduate...
