“The Food Standards Agency (FSA) estimates that approximately one in 28 people suffer from some form of foodborne illness every year in the UK. Not great. But in America, around one in six people experience some form of food poisoning ever year. Definitely much worse.”

Navarro doesn't understand the deal they signed. The text reads: "The United Kingdom and the United States affirm that imported food and agricultural goods must comply with the importing country’s sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards and other mutually agreed standards."

Fair play to Chris, it can't be easy to write an article and grit your teeth at the same time.

"Under this deal, it will now be cheaper to import a U.K. vehicle with very little U.S. content than a USMCA compliant vehicle from Mexico or Canada that is half American parts. This hurts American automakers, suppliers, and auto workers."

Trump just fired the three Democratic members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The CPSC regulates the safety of everyday consumer products. Guess who recently sued the agency and claimed that it's "unconstitutional"? Amazon. Connect the dots.

Solar panels are to be fitted on all new-build homes in England by 2027, under plans to be announced by ministers. This is a BIG CAMPAIGN WIN! 👏 Now let’s get rooftop solar rolled out across warehouses, car parks, and existing homes. 🌞 Agree? Tell Ed Miliband..... tinyurl.com/yc539rxp

The Prime Minister of a sovereign country came to the United States today and actually had to tell the President of the United States - to his face - that his sovereign country wasn’t for sale. And would never be for sale. That actually happened today.

This Starmer quote on Churchill is utterly dreadful. We give Churchill a lot of credit in Origin Story, but he was unquestionably racist & imperialist & responsible for the Bengal famine. Many British people dislike him for entirely justifiable reasons. Questioning their decency is outrageous.

Reporter: I was watching your face during the meeting.. what was going through your mind when the President talked about erasing the border.. Carney: I’m glad that you couldn’t tell what was going through my mind Reporter: Oh I could

The right-wing reaction to Labour securing a difficult Indian trade deal is a useful reminder. Even if this government was performing better, they'd still brand it a failure. Absolutely no reasoning with the modern British right at all.

Old photo: Lichfield Cathedral was completed by 1330, after a century of construction works, although its highly decorated West Front underwent heavy restoration in Victorian times. It is the only English medieval cathedral to have three spires, collectively known as the 'Ladies of the Vale'.

Our children are growing up on violent, misogynistic, and paedophilic-adjacent pornography online. That's why I've tabled amendments to the Crime & Policing Bill to ensure parity between offline and online pornography regulation. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

#UTFT Let’s get Niall home. €4k raised out of €7.5k needed. 💙🕯️🙏

Reform are preposterously beatable. This flag policy should be called what it is - a Ukraine flag ban - and be an intense focus of attack from other parties www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Orlin Roussev, Biser Dzhambazov and Katrin Ivanova, three Bulgarians all now convicted of spying for Russia, were present at a Brexit debate in a House of Commons committee room in May 2016. They. Knew. What. They. Were. Spying. For. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Is this bad? I'm no international shipping expert, but this sounds bad.

Ali France just became the first person to unseat an opposition leader at an election. Despite Peter Dutton’s fear-mongering and culture wars that strategically and deliberately harm minorities, Australians didn’t buy it. And a woman with a disability showed him the door.

🇺🇸 Non-MAGA Americans - listen up! At the Bylines Network (UK), we've a new project to amplify non-MAGA American voices at a time when US media are not adequately capturing the chaos, fear & disruption in people's lives. But we're collecting the stories. This is citizen journalism. Take a look. 👇

Using your vote to protest against the Government in local elections won't really damage the Government particularly as Labour are defending fewer than 300 seats. Same for those voting Reform Party Ltd rather than Tory, the only people you'll hurt are yourselves and your local services.

Watching Dr Strangelove again. Had forgotten that the cigar chomping, square jawed crazy all American general who starts WW3 had a head full of John Birch society ideas and thought that flouride in water was a commie plot... Now where have I heard that recently?

Walz: You have a situation where the Secretary of Health basically said it and was speaking with the language of eugenics, that some people just don't matter. People like Deanna's son or my son or those of you listening tonight. So look, this is a fight we must win.

Mark Carney, "The lessons of Brexit are beginning to be applied to the US" "When you break trading relationships you end up with slower growth"

Giles Coren calls out the president of the British Board of Deputies for the refusal to allow criticism of Israel's war in Gaza "while not a genocide, it has become a quite wanton slaughter." www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

BREAKING NYT: Pete Hegseth's personal phone number — the one used in a recent Signal chat — was easily accessible on the internet and public apps as recently as March, potentially exposing national security secrets to foreign adversaries. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/25/u...

“We believe in breaking taboos”. Yeah right, new Observer. The kind of taboos Clegg’s Facebook broke when it allowed Steve Bannon’s Cambridge Analytica to hack my profile and direct messages (along with 77 million others). Who needs laws, eh? They’re just taboos.

Who did this? 😂

Trump's nominee for surgeon general is a Fox News contributor who has been lying about her credentials. It seems her medical degree is from some shady Caribbean school.

this is well put and really worth watching: www.cnn.com/2025/04/25/p...

Donald Trump isn’t just illegally removing U.S. citizens from the country without due process. He’s illegally removing U.S. citizens who are literal children undergoing care for cancer. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

After MONTHS of shilling for Trump and angrily lecturing that OF COURSE Trump doesn't mean what he says, OF COURSE he's not on Russia's side, OF COURSE he's got Ukraine's back... Johnson now flips, with nary a word to acknowledge that he got this as catastrophically wrong as everything else. ~AA

📍In London to prepare the EU-UK Summit with Keir Starmer. We are friends. And we are Europeans. It means that we share interests and democratic values. And that we are ready to face global challenges as like-minded partners.

this polling shows why Farage & Badenoch both made a strategic mistake chasing the pro-Trump vote a few months ago

China canceled 13 BILLION worth of U.S. Soybeans. They will now buy soybeans from Brazil. Way to go, asswipe!

If you know, you know

This is way overdue.

A vote for Farage is a vote for chlorinated chicken. bsky.app/profile/theg...

In today's let's bash Labour news, in a long article on trade Rachel Reeves apparently said MP's wouldn't have a vote on any US trade deal. MP's have never had a vote on trade deals, the awful Australian deal for example. But it's led to another round of insults by tedious posters.

Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.

Worth reminding ourselves of the problems Tony Blair had within his first 6 months in office. A rebellion over cuts to single parent benefits, the Blair/Brown governments were the most successful in years, making life better for millions of us.
