I suggest instead of hectoring each other to try harder we become more aware of the moments when participating gave us more energy, and talk about those and help each other discover them - even if they don't seem to be the most urgent forms of participation.

A huge proponent of this way of thinking. It is to me an absolute, that academia and ideas are at a complete loss without extended periods of mindwandering. Something I have always valued artist friends who were able to retain it, but better than us academics.

The problems of “bad” research are different across fields and I do think “replication” is the wrong lens to think about current issues in social science.
