First AO Sherman, Kirkland and Ellis, and the other law firms. Then Columbia and the other universities. Then US Steel. Then what? Boeing, Budweiser, and Bristol-Meyers? Eventually they’ll come for your IP, your business, your assets, your liberty.

Everything @mayasen.bsky.social says here. It doesn't matter if you, say, want Harvard to promote viewpoint diversity more. These threats are unlawful. And giving in to them sets an unacceptable precedent for academic freedom and democracy itself. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/u...

Bombshell allegations by a DOJ whistleblower: Emil Bove—whom Trump has nominated to a federal appeals court—lied to courts and willfully defied their orders, then illegally fired the lawyers who tried to tell the truth in court. A massively damning document. static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics...

Out now🎉 - Evidence (from distribution analyses and machine learning models on EES 2014-2024 data) of strong similarities and growing convergence in EU public opinion, particularly on economic issues. Common right-ward shifts on immigration, yes - but underlying drivers still vary. shorturl.at/KCx0S

Today was the last day of the EITM Summer School in Mannheim. I am so more knowledgeable, wise and much grateful to Prof. Thomas König for this opportunity, and to Prof. Thomas Bräuninger, Prof. Richard Traunmüller, Prof. @dzobrien.bsky.social & Prof. @fortunato.bsky.social for teaching all of us 🙏🏼

This was a fun paper to write and we are very grateful for the recognition!

Delighted to see the 2nd edition of Foundations of European Politics 🇪🇺 in print! @catherinedevries.bsky.social @sopro.bsky.social @jbslapin.bsky.social If you teach EU or European politics, you can order an inspection copy here: global.oup.com/ushe/product...

Thrilled to welcome so many excellent scholars to EGB for the CBS-Princeton Money in Politics this Thursday and Friday. www.cbs.dk/files/cbs.dk... We are looking forward to two days of great presentations and discussions. Watch this space for some timely updates

A sane President would see the chaos that he engineered in LA as a mistake to avoid replicating. But for Trump it was simply the opening battle of his authoritarian takeover of major power centers controlled by his political enemies.

Our protest was peak San Diego. Chill, polite, and welcoming—we ran into a bunch of friends! But also MASSIVE. (Pic NBC 7 SD) If you got out yesterday and had fun, tell your friends and family about it. Gift link. defector.com/protests-big...

i am running for office on a platform of nationalizing chick-fil-a and giving popeye's a modified liquor license that allows them to sell go cups. a better world is possible

Agree 💯, @draliceevans.bsky.social is “brusque, yet charming.”

Shaping up to be second largest mass protest in US history, but ignored by the paper of record

They will flood the zone, they will spin things, they will spoil evidence, everything to minimize opponents and obfuscate the public. I came of age during the peak of Berlusconi - been there, done that. This is just an enhanced, more 1930s nostalgia version of all of that.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

Being ordered to deploy military against American protesters strikes me a no-brainer order for military to refuse. The fact that there hasn’t been reporting of refusals or terminations is very troubling.

The Center for Science of Science and Innovation is hiring a Data Visualization Research Analyst! Come work with me and @dashunwang.bsky.social. It's a phenomenal place to work, with really smart and kind colleagues. #dataviz careers.northwestern.edu/psc/hr857prd...

So now we’ve got people-most of them sore losers, loser athletes or bigots-lining up to tell Simone Biles and Dawn Staley about how to best protect and nurture women’s sports. I know which side to trust on this one.

1/3 This is interesting, particularly point 4, which, if applied as promised, will infuriate American behaviorists.

New Cambridge Element 'Glass Ceilings, Glass Cliffs, and Quicksands: Gendered Party Leadership in Parliamentary Systems' by Andrea S. Aldrich & @zeynsom.bsky.social is now free to read for 2 weeks. cup.org/3HqJXty #cambridgeelements #politics

I am incredibly proud that my book, co-authored with Andrea Aldrich, is published. Using an original party leadership dataset from 11 parliamentary democracies, Andrea and I show that women candidates face a glass ceiling for leadership and quickly sink once elected (the quicksand theory).

Musk is out, & a new billionaire steps in. Your bank accounts, your medical history, your debts—all visible to Silicon Valley CEOs. President Trump doesn't care about the cost of living. He cares about making as much money as he can by selling you out. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/t...

*Eagle screech* 🦅🏳️‍🌈

i really, really need people to understand that they *didn't* vote for this, no matter how much you insist they did. insisting "they voted for this" elides the information environment that led them to vote the way they did in the first place, the thing that actually needs fixing.

Just over half a year ago, the Oxford Handbook of Dutch Politics was published. This means that authors working at Dutch universities, can now share a copy of their chapters online for free access, according to Dutch copyright law. My own chapters are linked below 👇

This is a very good book

This looks like a great book! I’d buy it if I were you.

Bullshit launderers and water carriers again describing Trump’s intentions with concepts (“sphere of influence”) he probably doesn’t understand and could never articulate

i think it should be a bigger story that the president held a meeting with a foreign head of state where he ranted about the most gutter white supremacist propaganda you can find on the internet

Loved hosting the Controversial markets conference in Aarhus❤️ Amazing talks and the exchanges just went on seamlessly. Talking about altruism walking the bridge with no end; debating crowding out in the beautiful forest and discussing organ markets over dinner. I could not have wished for more❤️🥳

I said it would get worse very quickly. By tomorrow we will have completed the most dangerous & frightening 24 hours thus far of Trump 2.0. Just to name a few: 1. Defiance of a court order by sending migrants to Sudan without due process (despite clear DP decision SCOTUS) & Dist. CT. order.

In this line of work, we go to our students.
