I am back from a lengthy hiatus. It's been an interesting time working through life changes. Social media can most definitely take a toll, especially confronted with world events in real time as well as those who comment on them.

Happy International Women’s Day to the most international woman of all: the woman trapped on the International Space Station

I've been on a hiatus from Bluesky to try to not make my tenuous mental health worse. I ended up in the hospital in part because of social media harassment. I will be trying to limit my time on these platforms.

After 20 years of using Facebook, I do believe I am done. By the end of this month, I will be deleting my account. I will find a place to store the many photos from over the years, but it is no longer a productive place to be. Whatever I liked about it as a college student has long since died.

Sometimes I feel everyone's pain all at once, and it makes me very, very sad. And then I feel like it's wrong to be remotely happy when some people are suffering. And I am just so angry and sad, angry and sad.

This is how you do it.

This. Ambition? Worldly success? Nah. What counts is our resilience under pressure and ability to help each other.

Today I ran into an 8-year-old girl at a local bookstore. She told me that she wanted to move to Italy. I asked her why, and while she said that she liked the idea of pizza all the time, she also said that she was scared of staying here, in the US. This zeitgeist breaks my heart.

Instead of MAGA, why not MOFA? Make Orwell Fiction Again! the-philosophers-shirt.com/collections/...

Like many born into slavery, abolitionist Frederick Douglass never knew his birthday. His mother called him “little valentine” and so he chose to celebrate on Valentine’s Day. Happy birthday, Frederick Douglass 💜

New blog post out at The Philosopher's Shirt. I wrote it. Take a look. Have a good day. #philosophy the-philosophers-shirt.com/blogs/philos...

I don't think it's productive to say offensive things to people who have done nothing but try to be kind, and accuse them of doing nothing but "thoughts and prayers." I lost my faith a few years ago, and I haven't spoken to that person upstairs in a long time. I try to do what I can in my writing.

The anxiety descends. I do not have time or space for any other stressors. My quota for stressors is maxed out and the employees of my head are flailing at the moment. Please be good to yourselves. Take time off the internet, be with nature, hold your loved ones or plushie. Breathe. Stay safe.
