I see that the bad take theatre is cooking on the Marvel Knights The World to Come book. Remember that Priest requires you to read the full series for all the narrative rewards. So chill.

Old man rant: Not a big fan of people vaping on the train. Especially fruity vapes. My philosophy on tobacco is there is no need for flavor in tobacco. I am an odd purist that way.

Today in therapy I dropped the notion that not only is religion not a prerequisite for morals, and morality is not compatible with law.

The thing about the passing of Peter David is that his talents for humor were only dwarfed by how well he mastered the short story in an annual or the single issue comic. He was for Marvel was Keith Giffen was at DC as talent that knew that personality was key to humanizing fictional characters.

I saw on the Evil Bird place a local reporter inquiring about turning off and on the Chicago media apparatus… I feel a similar way.

One of my favorite things I like to do is resume review and critique. I come from a very utility focused view on them as an entry to a person’s skill set as well as an understanding of skill methodology in order to find people jobs that will work the best.

The Chicago Sun-Times Sunday insert book kerfluffle would have been avoided if that work was done locally, as opposed to packaged in a syndicate, and if that list was librarian sourced.

I remember a time (2009) when I was in grad school where the entirely of a classes grade was dependent on incorporating quoted narrative and sources into a paper in order to display research proficiency. I would assume that in 2025 this would be consider a crime against humanity.

20 years of my favorite TV series about politics, The Thick of It. Great write up in the Guardian. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

Sky got dark real quick in the dust storm.

Sitting outside hoping that the sciatica doesn’t flare up today. Had a flare up on Monday night through Tuesday that was pure hades.

So many thoughts on the new Superman trailer. Lots of it will involve our good boy Krypto.

I am always afraid that Chicago might have to save the world one day. This makes me weary.

Thank you, Dr. Carla Hayden, for your leadership and commitment to ensuring access to knowledge for all. Your service as Librarian of Congress has inspired a generation of librarians, archivists, and readers. Photo: Dr. Hayden meets with Internet Archive founder @brewster.kahle.org, 2017.

Do any folks remembered how plagiarism was punishable in academia? I sure do. That is the thing about AI users. I always know who either bought a test or copied a paper for a grade in school. I feel the Venn diagram would be closer to a circle than we think. Also, AI feels dull and lazy.

There is a beauty to analog art that can never be replaced by the AI prompt of folks with limited imaginations trying to grift their way to fame and fortune.

Random note about heading out to a new wave DJ set in 2025… The music videos were some truly fascinating pieces of art.

Jackson “Butch” Guice passed today. He had an artistic talent for comics that elevated scripts that were not great. Never met the man, but his work was Top Tier. Check out his Birds of Prey, Ruse, and Amber Blake works… his New Mutants run was also well done.

That Trump for pope idea is illogical, but the most ideologically consistent idea that has come to the news this week because it codifies that he does not view himself as a political creature, but a celestial GodKing. That has upset me profoundly.
