Playing with Boltz-2 installed locally on our servers. Quite nice ! Looking forward to finishing the installation of AF3 and testing it as well. Waiting for the weights…

So french 😂

It is online since a few days, so time to recap: Our first steps in a new field of bacterial polysaccharide secretion, focused on Pel system from Pseudomonas aeruginosa: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Step by step, adding FLM and SMLM to our microscopy arsenal. It takes some efforts and time but...So much fun to combine in vitro CryoEM/structural biology with cellular fluorescence and electron microscopy/nanoscopies !

#MINFLUX highlight: Direct observation of the conformational states of PIEZO1, Nature 2023 MINFLUX combined with iPALM data to investigate the structural dynamics of PIEZO1 in the cell plasma membrane and in purified protein samples. nature.com/articles/s41... @ardemp.bskyverified.social lab

Un orage de fin d’été le 13 juin… tout va bien

Looking forward to the demo of the @abberior.rocks #MINFLUX in few weeks in Bordeaux (organised by @iins-bordeaux.bsky.social and hosted by @iecb.bsky.social)

Congrats Jean-Christophe [email protected]

🎖️ Félicitations aux nouveaux membres @iufrance.bsky.social Yamina Meziani, maîtresse de conférences en sociologie & @baretjc.bsky.social , membre sénior, professeur en physique (chaire fondamentale) Sophie Chave-Dartoen, (chaire Médiation scientifique) www.iufrance.fr/deta...

This is exactly what sport is not (or should not be). Doping is cheating. World record or not. 'À vaincre sans péril, on triomphe sans gloire.'

L’Institut européen de chimie et biologie @iecb.bsky.social est renforcé par l’acquisition de deux nouveaux microscopes de pointe, offrant aux chercheurs une capacité unique pour explorer l’architecture moléculaire et cellulaire avec une précision inédite : www.u-bordeaux.fr/ac...

Big fan de la chronique du vendredi de François Morel, prouvant avec brio que l’on peut dénoncer sans être outrancier.

Problem cryo-ET structure alert. A recent paper by Lange et al. in @natcellbio.nature.com (tinyurl.com/38s6a4dn) reported an unusual-looking model of the prohibitin complex in situ. We asked: how was this structure generated? Our reanalysis offers an explanation: tinyurl.com/mszdtwxx 🧵

“The Website” is here! It can be intimidating getting into analysis of #CryoET data, and software is evolving all the time👩‍💻🚀. @phaips.vd.st & @florentwaltz.bsky.social put our lab’s workflows into an online guide. We hope this helps lower the bar to joining #TeamTomo. Feedback much appreciated! 🧪🧶🧬🔬

Fellow ladies in science, as part of the disappearing species of international female scientists in France and perhaps every/elsewhere, I want to bring your special attention to our institute's open call for group leaders 👩‍🔬🦠🧪🔬🤓!!! Come join me in doing some coolicious science here 🙏!

We are recruiting 🤩🤩🤩!!! If you are looking to establish your lab in a multidisciplinary institute with state-of-the-art facilities, horizontal structure and diverse faculty, all in a near-paradisiac city in the south-west of France, you have 6 weeks left to submit your application 🤓!!!

Please RT. Post-doc opportunity alert! 💥 closing 5th May.. Come join our team (thelowlab.org) at Imperial, London, working on bacterial secretion systems. The position is funded by the Wellcome Trust. For more details and to apply please see www.imperial.ac.uk/jobs/search-...

Getting there...

C'est donc ça qu'on appelle Pâques au tison Ressenti 5°. Je confirme !!!

Resistance led and inspired by universities !! Beautiful !

Finally !! Well done

When I left Paris in 2016, it was so common not to see the Eiffel Tower for whole days due to pollution, as in the picture. I'm glad the situation has improved so drastically.

I am the kind of scientist who spends most of his time trying to find the money to buy the tips and then justify how and why they were used (among other things).

Very happy to share this work on LPS transport in bacteria together with @raffaeleieva.bsky.social and @pstansfeld.bsky.social

Here our new preprint on the LPS holo-translocon doi.org/10.1101/2025... , collaboration with Yves Quentin @JulieMarcoux @fronzeslab.bsky.social @pstansfeld.bsky.social - @cbitoulouse.bsky.social

MINFLUX works well in theory, but system and sample imperfections can lead to suboptimal resolution. To address this, @jonasries.bsky.social and I developed SimuFLUX: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1..., a realistic simulator to optimize MINFLUX experiments before samples go on the microscope.

Published an op-ed for @cnn.com: “Nobel laureate: I owe America my success. Today, its scientific future is in danger.” A personal reflection on what’s at stake as science funding gets slashed. I’d be grateful if you could amplify both in and beyond the science world. www.cnn.com/2025/04/09/h...

Two great preprints dissecting the DNA binding mechanism by the competence Type IV pilus. Beautiful work. Whether in Gram- or Gram+, it's always the minor pilins !! How I wish Alphafold were available during my PhD 😅... www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

This is interesting. This in just 3-4 months ! That’s quite ironic if you think about the sometimes agressive reaction of some of our colleagues.

Molecular interplay between ComEC domains leads to efficient DNA translocation during natural transformation 👇

Yes. This excellent film has been on my mind a lot over the last few months. Same with the Netflix series The Handsmaid's Tale... Extreme, but in many ways relevant to the actual atmosphere.

I read that the ERC programmes could disappear in the near future. No FP10? After the US, European science would also be sacrificed?

Was planning on buying a Leica super-resolution microscope. Have just been informed that the 20% Trump tariffs need to be added which likely kills the deal. This is just one lab. One business. The wider chaos this is creating can be stopped right now if the GOP were to assert Congress's power.
