When I'm not on here, I'm watching sports (college and professional), gaming, or reading. Recently departed a (nearly) 30 year career for writing. Wish me luck or ask me anything! #writing #fiction

I want to say, being, recently, self-employed (but without an income) has been rough. I have no sense of structure beyond morning coffee, the newspaper, and 3-mile walks. Writing is a challenge, probably because I am overthinking it. Anyone got any suggestions to break out of the muck? #writing

Started reading "Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine" and kinda loving it. Just the right length, especially before bed. One of the outstanding issues, the upfront subscription cost via phone order versus online. Why? #writing #reading #mysteries

Out today - Road to October 7: A Brief History of Palestinian Islamism by Erik Skare "A must read for anyone wishing to understand the historical and ideological contexts for the events of 7 October 2023 and the future struggles in Palestine." - Ilan Pappe www.versobooks.com/products/330...

That's if you're *lucky*.

Well, I'm going to call it. The following team is going to win the World Series after never winning it. The Rays, Padres, Rockies, Brewers, or Mariners.

Pour-over cup of ‘cold brew’ blend coffee and some morning sunshine, as I work on another #shortstory. #coffee #blackandwhite #photography #indiewriting

Just purchased a used hardcover from an independent bookstore. The name of the bookstore was "Yesterday's Muse". The listing described the book’s condition as nearly new. And it looks pretty darn close! The name of the service I used was Biblio. Which claims to support Indie book stores. FYI

Made a commitment to read around 50 pages per day. Figured, that's a good number. What's your rate per day of reading? #reading #writing

Every day is "The Crowd" (Bradbury) for me. Except, it's social media. Not someone laying in state on a curb or street. Anyone else feeling this way? How do you creatively break out of it? #indiewriting #writing

I'm really surprised Apple didn't jump onto the #AprilFools trend with something like a Fitness Achievement for eating one donut. Or something like that.

Looking at #Boston, #Sommerville, and #Cambridge, for #coffee roaster options. Preference is darker roasts (think chocolate, leather, tobacco, dark fruit, et al.). But, if there is a medium roaster I'm interested. Any #reading spots are appreciated too! Bars, cafes, or (weather-permitting) outdoors.

As someone that rarely has Chicken Parm', that sounds like a challenge I'm willing to take! Thanks!

Hey, @cgolden.bsky.social. Heading back to Boston in mid-September against NY. Do you have any recommendations? Going to be mostly on foot, with a smattering of MTB here and there. Thinking N. End will be my starting point every day. Take care either way!

Kinda psyched to be heading to #Boston later this year! Hopefully, I find some inspiring spots to relax, read, and get some writing done.

Honest #writing question. I had an idea for a novel, but I'm stuck at the intro. How many of you skip this part and come back? Or do you work on it until you feel it's there? #indiewriting #writers #novel

The answer to "can I/you/someone do...?" Yes. Yes, you can. Anyone who says otherwise is holding you back. Just need to decide if it is worth the cost to do so.

New #writer question. Can someone make a career out of being a #shortstory writer? I recall someone opining that writing SS is just as much a discipline as a novella or novel. #indiewriter

I don't get personal on main very often, but I spent a few hours writing this, and I want you to read it. It's about my dad and my stepmom, and me, and Stranger Things, and what's happening to the VA right now. www.cheriepriest.com/blog/the-dep...

Congrats!

Banned Book Alert! From Variety: Trump Bans Julianne Moore's Children’s Book From Schools “It is a great shock for me to learn that my first book, ‘Freckleface Strawberry,’ has been banned by the Trump Administration from schools run by the Department of Defense,” Moore wrote. amzn.to/41kLzg2

Welcome @sarashandler.bsky.social! The muscles needed for daily writing are still in atrophy. But, I will add your name to my list when I feel more comfortable submitting something. Take care!
