Deadline extended. Funded PhD studentship at Edge Hill University with a wonderful Cumbrian field site. Please share. www.findaphd.com/phds/project...

Some alpine delights from obergurgl this week @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Students from the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York, hanging out in the amazing forests that surround Obergurgl, learing all about alpine ecology. @uoyenvironment.bsky.social #Obergurgl #Austria #PhotoRippin

One month left to apply for a PhD position in my group on the ERC funded project EcoMEMO. Link to the PhD course and application: unibo.it/en/study/phd... Please contact me if you need more info on the project, the group and life in Italy in general. More info below⬇️

Arrived ready for a week of lovely alpine fun @uniinnsbruck.bsky.social Obergurgl.

More path-side loveliness as we snake through the German countryside

Thin soils in urban environments provide sharp hydrological gradients, and create large biodiversity potential over small spaces @trevorthebotanist.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Short breaks whilst the world passes by

Enroute to Obergurgl to the wonderful @uniinnsbruck.bsky.social university centre for week-long alpine ecosystem field course. First stage crossing the sea…

Rather cool Pierre ☺️

Job alert! Open Research position in our group on "Tree line ecology in mountain regions" at @slfdavos.bsky.social Apply and become my colleague 😊 apply.refline.ch/273855/1731/...

Heritage potatoes doing well! All prep for the lab fondue later in the year 🤓

Lovely couple of days in the field at peak-drought for the driest spring in 100 years… what will the soil microbes be upto? How will they respond when the rains come?

Are you interested in the ecology of deep soil forest fungi? We are hiring a postdoc (3y). More information here: jobs.unibas.ch/offene-stell...

🚨 Job alert 🚨 Two very exciting senior researcher positions in community ecology & biodiversity in a changing world @niooknaw.bsky.social I can also tell you that you'll have a great head of department 😊 vacatures.knaw.nl/job/Wagening...

Turn up for seal sounds. On first year

A few of my one-year olds are showing. They’ll be potted on in early summer, and planted out this winter to bolster local woodlands and start done anew…

Being in the presence of huge organisms is humbling… as is the thought of how many organisms I can’t see, that are part of this story

Fen, grassland, bracken, wood-pasture, lake, river, forest, bog, heath, snowbed, scree, boulders… and all manner of ecotonal systems…

Wood pasture delivers incredible habitat diversity, sometimes where we don’t first look

Collecting epiphytic lichens to continue our enzymology work. Beautiful microsystems

Agree that agroforestry systems can be hugely beneficial at driving biodiversity. A lot if this is also cryptogams on the ground, which are frequently overlooked.
