#NoKings sign idea: YOU’RE NOT THE KING YOU’RE JUST THE CLOWN PRINCE

last talk of the day is the fantastic Manny Silva talking documentation testing strategy. "Something always breaks." Documentation ends up out of sync, because changes don't get communicated downstream. This creates distrust internally and user distrust. #WTD

Also I wish I could go a day or two without seeing pictures of his stupid smug face

WRONG WAY: Posting a huge screenshot of exactly what he said and then your reply RIGHT WAY: “The truth is __. Trump is lying about __ because he wants __. He says (short summary) which is a lie. The truth is __ and we should __” Read G. Lakoff. Don’t do Trumps work for him by posting screenshots.

Remember that it's STILL not cool to make fun of ANYONE'S weight, in any context, and that's STILL not how we get to ANY justice or liberation, EVER EVEN if you think you're being sly and funny about how the president is like the mob boss from that movie or whatever. Words and deeds only.

Honest question: where are actual #Progressives gathering right now? Where is the conversation happening? There are tons of cool people to follow but I’m not seeing real conversations. I’m seeing a lot of rage at news, and mocking Trump and Elon which is awesome, but actual strategy and plans? …

Question of the week!

I knew that the last time a third party won in US was when Lincoln won, as a Republican. But I did not know that it was #FusionVoting that made it happen. Let’s make GOP a #ThirdParty again. Let’s build a better opposition so we can have a better coalition.

Ripon, Wisconsin was the birthplace of the GOP in 1854—thanks to fusion voting. Anti-slavery Whigs, Free Soilers & Liberty Party members joined forces to oppose the Kansas-Nebraska Act. A new party was born, and the power of coalition politics changed history. 🗳️📜

Amazon’s CEO contributed just 0.4% of his taxable pay to Social Security last year. Meanwhile, Amazon’s median-paid worker contributed 6.2%. Amazon's workers paid a 15x higher rate of their taxable income into Social Security than their CEO. Scrap the cap.

Journalists: it’s not called “deporting” when you take a US citizen child to a country they have never been to. That is called “kidnapping” or “ rendition”

Honestly I never felt right with “I’m socially moderate/liberal but fiscally conservative” people. Like, you don’t think it’s racist to vote for lower taxes when minorities, poor folks, workers are vulnerable and getting hurt by all those services getting cut? #WFP #Progressives

Anat points out Democrats are failing the messaging on Trump Tariffs, and suggests how to make the message “pro-worker” and positive with Progressive trade policy. @workingfamilies.org @mauricewfp.bsky.social are you guys doing some messaging on this?

Center-left response to all things tariff is case study in messaging mis-steps. 2 dominant narratives I saw emerge - were "tariffs are bad and 401Ks are bleeding" and "Trump has a point." As if those two bad choices were the only options. 🧵

The first rule of Empathy Club is, you should definitely talk about Empathy Club.

Another good reason to ditch Substack for more honorable newsletter publishing platforms: https://digiday.com/media/former-substack-creators-say-theyre-earning-more-on-new-platforms-that-offer-larger-shares-of-subscription-revenue/

How to get your stuff off of Substack and keep more of your money! digiday.com/media/former...

The whole idea that “trade deficit” is racist and xenophobic. Other countries that produce stuff that US buys are not committing some offense or getting away with something sneaky. But if people believe that the US is under attack by foreigners, they might just get behind this idiot theory.

Also, tariffs don’t “bring money into the US” – they are a tax paid by people already in the US who buy imported stuff. Also tariffs are a “regressive” tax meaning poorer and working class people will pay more than their fair share, and rich people will pay very little. What a stupid timeline.

I still don’t get if there is even a goal in mind, or even a “theory of the case.” Suddenly “trade deficits” are a bad thing? Countries that sell us stuff, more than they buy from us, are somehow sinister? I have a “trade deficit” with my dentist, should I be concerned?

We all know what we are against. Now tell me what you are FOR. What is the positive vision? I'll start... Govt by the people, for the people Equal protection, equal opportunity Free to be who we are Care for others, protect the vulnerable We all do our part Protect the planet Thread >>

Project 2029 is a website with a positive vision for the US. You know, in case anyone says "You're just protesting Trump but you don't have a platform", maybe check this one out. www.project2029.me

Great article by A.R. Moxon about moving off of Substack and why it was important to him. If you write/publish on Substack, definitely read this. www.the-reframe.com/1-year-after... Follow A.R. Moxon @juliusgoat.bsky.social

What if–hear me out–we all build some “friendly competition” from the Left and become the new opposition? I don’t like spoilers like Greens but WFP has been effective since 90’s challenging Dems in primaries and bringing those votes home in Nov via #FusionVoting. Imagine a world where GOP is the 3rd
