On June 6, 1944, 81 years ago, the US and allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Europe from Hitler’s tyrannic rule. These brave soldiers gave their lives to defend democracy. We must honor them by continuing the fight against authoritarianism and fascism in all its forms.

Historian’s - Has there ever been an episode in history where such man babies have been in charge of the world’s most powerful country? www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cy...

@yanisvaroufakis.bsky.social is absolutely correct. Brexit result! youtube.com/shorts/j4F_r...

About time, I have been saying this for the last 15 years.

The tactic for Labour should be simple. Govern as a Labour Party. Don’t try to take Reform’s place, or Reform’s voters. Let Reform implode.

It’s Nature or No Nature! Steve Reed, we cheered when you said: “Without nature thriving, there can be no long-term food security.” We couldn’t agree more…so with that in mind…

“Imagine flattening an irreplaceable grade I listed building like the Royal Albert Hall, replacing it with karaoke machines in various towns & then telling the public this is a ‘win-win’ for architecture & music” - brutally accurate analogy from @ruthtingay.bsky.social @wildjustice.bsky.social

Time for another round of Nature or No Nature! Angela Rayner, you said Labour's planning bill would be a win for nature. Yet your environmental watchdog says the opposite. To help clear up the confusion, your question now...

What did we do to deserve this government? It promised change, and many people voted on that basis, in good faith. But the change is from bad to worse. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

When warnings of Insectageddon were issued a few years ago, there was widespread denial. Less so now. It's devastating. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Farmers trying to do the right thing are yet again getting frozen out by this government, which seems determined to make the wrong decisions at every opportunity. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cg... “Ukraine did not inform the White House” Well given their record of giving advance posting on social media who is surprised!

My friend is in charge of the team that wrote the climate change adaptation plan for Switzerland and this is one of the things they expected.

Starmer and Reeves were going to be green: now they’re just trashing the planet www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/05...

Not sure this is quite right from the COP30 President. The arguments against climate action have shifted to focus on the policy response, but much of it is still rooted in full blown climate denial. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

[email protected] are right - exempting small sites means almost three-quarters of developments would face no requirement to compensate for nature loss - let alone enhance it. Government pledges to restore nature clearly aren’t worth the paper they were written on

You couldn’t make it up - this is the same government that promised to deliver significant nature recovery - yet once again they’re slashing key nature funding & massively undermining farmers in the process. Madness

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social is stepping backwards. “Environmental rules reviewed for small housebuilders” www.bbc.com/news/article...

"Access campaigners hope the Dartmoor ruling will push Labour to open up more land to the public... Some wonder if the judgment could prompt other national parks to allow responsible backpacking camping" Cracking piece by @tomwall.bsky.social: www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Swifts are amazing. A single swift can fly 2 million miles in its lifetime with a top speed of nearly 70 mph 😳 Yet they’re under pressure as never before. Please do as @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social asks - lobby your MP to overturn this Govt’s obdurate refusal to mandate swift bricks in new homes 👇

No more EDI at Durham Council? Reform UK’s Nicola Lyons has it as part of her portfolio on the Council. 🤪

🎉 HUGE NEWS: The EU Court has confirmed marine protected areas must be PROPERLY protected from bottom trawling! Countries must act to fulfil their legal duty to safeguard these areas from destruction. This is an absolute WIN for our ocean. 🙌 1/2 www.clientearth.org/latest/press...

"It's been a fantastic victory to see wild camping rights on Dartmoor confirmed... but we want to see those rights extended" ICYMI here's my interview with Channel 4 News yesterday evening from outside Alexander Darwall's estate at Cornwood, Dartmoor: www.channel4.com/news/supreme...

It was great to have the support of MPs @philbrickellmp.bsky.social @andymacnaemp.bsky.social @simonforstroud.bsky.social & @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social outside the Supreme Court earlier for wild camping verdict! Now we need the Govt to pass legislation to extend public access rights to nature!

So delighted by this news!! Supreme Court rules that the stars are for everyone ✨ Huge congratulations to @righttoroam.bsky.social 👏🎉 Now Government must urgently pass a comprehensive Right to Roam Act, to protect & extend public rights of responsible access to nature across England

Climate change! Slowly but surely the change is happening. “West Nile virus detected in UK mosquitoes for first time” www.bbc.com/news/article...

Given that we’re a nation of nature lovers, whose conservation charities are among the world's biggest membership organisations, Keir Starmer’s repeated attacks on voters who want to protect the living planet, calling us “time-wasting nimbys”, “blockers” and “zealots”, is frankly idiotic.

Coverage of idiots claiming ‘betrayal’ or ‘surrender’ isn’t just bad journalism, it’s a dereliction of our duty to explain things. I’d actually forgotten just how bad it got but here we are, straight back to treating liars & spivs like authorities of equal weight to experts & honest brokers.

Looks good, a bit more maturity showing from @labourjustice.bsky.social Just need to ensure our marine environment protection is enhanced! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Any guesses what it is about Reform that attracts the far right??? “Far-right leaders attempting to hijack success of Reform” www.bbc.com/news/article...

That includes me. Labour are dishonest and a disaster. I read about protecting nature In their manifesto not trashing it! @teamlabouruk.bsky.social

There’s cheers for @chrishinchliff.bsky.social MP, who’s standing up for nature & trying to make the government see sense with his amendments to the Planning Bill. @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social please adopt Chris’ amendments! www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Many already know this but a large minority are taken in hook, line and sinker. “Farage is running a cult, says ex-Reform MP Lowe” www.bbc.com/news/article...

I very much doubt I will vote Labour again. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I also discuss the bizarre and disturbing association between the Starmer government and former special advisers to Boris Johnson and Liz Truss. I vaguely remember being told something about "Change". But this continuity is beyond our worst nightmares. Not just Tory policies, but actual Tories.

Genuinely shocked how far and fast the Conservative Party has fallen on climate change. They’re now at the accusing climate scientists of ‘bias’ and considering quitting the Paris Agreement stage of things. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Brilliant achievement! Now MPs must consider the petition for a debate in Parliament - it couldn’t be more urgent to stop fossil fuel ads creating a social licence of trust & acceptability
