📽️ This is perhaps my longest review.

📽️ Tonight’s feature film.

Cannot wait to be in the audience for this match!

Never once have I thought about buying a toy car.

I sing the praises of ‘Hail, Caesar’ all the time. I’ve never met someone who has seen it.

We all need these gang-gang smiles 🤩🪶🌏🧪🌿

David Lynch's films were beyond dream and imagination. They are a glimpse into the mind of one the cinema's great creatives. His 1984 version of Dune is a prime example of that. Moviegoers was not ready for Lynch's sci-fi epic at the time, but it maintained a cultural footprint.

📽️ It was a Nosferatu-pilled New Year’s Day.

🎥 Robert Eggers did not create a symphony of horror in his version of Nosferatu, but he did deliver us a dark, evil rendition of the classic tale.

Worldle in two. Gotta love it. ⬜🟨⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

🎥 In preparation for watching Robert Eggers' Nosferatu tonight, I decided to take the day to revisit the pervious two tellings of the Dracula novel. F.W. Murnau's 1922 is truely a symphony of horror.

I watched 384 movies in 2024, fewer than 2023 but still good. There was a lull in July but otherwise consistent. Christopher Lee was again my most watched actor but glad to see Marlene Dietrich in the top three.

🎥 I was the first person to review the Mongolian romantic drama The Story of Us on Letterboxd. It's fine, and it helped me learn more about the daily lives of average Mongolians.

Today I made mini cinnamon donuts using the donut mould that came with my sandwich press. Yes, they are very tasty 😋.

🎥 A goal of mine in 2025 is to get better at writing movie reviews. It is a type of creative writing I enjoy but still have a lot to learn. That said, my review of Judgement at Nuremberg (1961) is alright, in my humble opinion.

One day on from ROH Final Battle and I’m still reeling from this return. Nigel is one of the ROH greats and to see him on the PPV was so cool. I was yelling at my TV - it’s during those moments you know you’re watching good wrestling.

It’s almost showtime! Watch #ROHFinalBattle LIVE from the Hammerstein Ballroom 8/5 pt exclusively on #HonorClub at WatchROH.com

I added a hardcover edition of Frankenstein printed on black paper to my bookshelf this week.

📽️ It’s a Paul Giamatti Christmas double feature in this household tonight!

The War of Rohirrim is a worthy entry in the Lord of the Rings expanded universe, even if all its supporting characters are dull.

The 1920s version of the "call me" gesture, done by Charley Chase in Dog Shy (1926)

For @letterboxd.social I wrote about the myriad ways Bob Dylan was influenced by and also influenced this thing we call The Movies

Will Ospreay vs DarbAllin was absolutely match of the night on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Two of the best to ever do it put on a top show!

Totally unique, unlike anything else being filmed and released today, Megalopolis is a towering achievement in cinema.

Gladiator 2 is a fun time at the movies, but does nothing to expand the universe, or justify why it needed to be a legacy sequel. Paul Mescal was good.

There was a loud thud at the back window this morning. I looked outside and saw this fledgling bird clearly a bit shaken but okay. I left it alone and checked back later to see it had flown away. 😀

In 1920s Hollywood, bits of cotton were often used to simulate falling snow. Eventually this was deemed a fire risk, so a switch was made to asbestos

Will Ospreay v Darby Allin is going to be match of the night. It’s going to be great!

📽️ A late night horror-comedy to end the day 😀. The acting combination of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing always delivers.

A great movie, indeed.

The co-founder of OpenAI says AI will one day be able to “reason” and become unpredictable 😨. Is that what we want? I like being in a world where I only communicate with other living things.

📽️ Oh, wow. ‘Ivan the Terrible’ is a darn good movie.

📽️ The films of Pawo Choyning Dorji give us a glimpse into the culture, society, and environment, of Bhutan. It’s a remote Asian country, the only to have happiness as a measure of success. Dorji’s films follow young men learning about their country. They’re a pleasure to watch.

Hopefully the release of Nosferatu (2024) will lead more people to watch the 1922 original. A true standout of German Expressionism in film.
