@stevelevitsky.bsky.social sets the @NYTimes straight. Michael Schmidt and Alan Blinder need to get their act together.

What am I worried about? -Safety of 30k US troops in the Middle East -cybersecurity (since CISA was recently gutted) & homeland security (as HLS focused on immigration) -Economic strength (oil prices and tariffs) -Allied assistance (we’ll need that now) -Domestic intell (leadership at FBI/DNI)

Just a reminder that you can intensely dislike the Iranian regime and still think all this is a fucking gross combination of illegal and insane.

BREAKING: Iranian State TV airs a map of U.S. military bases in the Middle East, declaring: “Mr. Trump, you started it, and we will end it.” #cdnpoli

Five things to remember about war:

Please don’t presume this is now an American president making a serious decision for the good of America, not a malignant despot desperate to be seen as a strong man.

77 million voted for this lawless man and every damn elected Republican has refused to push back for five straight months as he flouts our laws, violates our Constitution, attacks our people—and now recklessly and illegally wages war.

Yet Luigi launched a thousand hand-wringing op-eds from the chattering class. Makes you think

Just in case anyone wants a reminder of how Trump helped create the situation he's now using as justification to bomb Iran. abcnews.go.com/Politics/ira...

June 21st. First day of summer, last day of world peace.

BREAKING: The U.S. attacked three Iranian nuclear sites, Trump says, joining Israeli air campaign as Tehran promises to retaliate.

In Bell, CA an entire community stood up against ICE, including the local police and the fire dept. The fire truck appears to not allow ICE vehicles to move forward nor remain and pushes forward to escort them out. A police car also helped with escorting. /

The idea that any idea, no matter how factually incorrect, is appropriate to make if it's well-argued may be the very center of legal education's responsibility for what is happening now to the rule of law.

Babies are being born with measles in Alberta, having caught the illness in utero from unvaccinated mothers. The measles outbreak in Alberta is huge. Their case count is approaching 1,000. A baby born with measles in Ontario has already died. Please get your vaccines. This is all preventable.

What do you think? What’s more important, punishment or rehabilitation?

The public was 100% ready for trans rights just a few years ago. What we’re seeing now is a massive shift in public opinion after a coordinated and expensive propaganda blitz, one that Dems happily ignored. Trans rights aren’t new. We had them for years and everything was cool.

Elon saying he’s going to reprogram his chatbot’s view of history is a perfect example of why these kinds of AI products aren’t the neutral “tools” people always defend them as. They’re little political projects reflecting the ideologies of their creators

and as we know, "viewpoint diversity" means, "you need to recruit, hire and reward white nationalists"

“This was the gov that presided over the worst covid vax uptake in the country & their stats on covid reflect that neglect. This is a gov that commissioned a report that justified their actions, except medical & scientific exp tore it apart as fact-starved partisan garbage.” Bill is right. #ableg

I live far too close to nature to ever trust an app to not send me over a cliff or a bear den. 🤷‍♀️ We get bears in our back yard, etm. Don’t need to leave town to see hungry wildlife.

Someone in the replies called this doordash for bears and I can't stop laughing

I'm with Rebecca. The Alt National Park account is fake.

This is 100% spot on👇 “If you want to know what you think about a topic, write about it. Writing has a way of ruthlessly exposing unclear thoughts and imprecision.” And it is why ChatGPT is rotting brains.

Maple MAGA in #Canada at its finest. 😡 Stop denying the harm’s done by residential schools to our #Indigenous people. It’s a marathon not a sprint! We need to be vigilant against right-wing /Conservative propaganda if We are going to survive. 🇨🇦❤️✊🏾 #cdnpoli #elbowsup thetyee.ca/News/2025/06...

Will they put butcher paper down on his table with crayons so he can draw?

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

The hotline is "supported by [Olu] Orange’s private law firm & the National Immigration Project (NIP)." Calls go directly to one of ~15 volunteers, who "takes down the caller’s name/case number, [&] helps fill out the paperwork... [Orange] files the motion by mail & e-mail" (link in next) 1/

If six months is a Friedman unit, is a fortnight the new Trump unit? (It’s like my mum’s unit of distance. When hiking with her children, anytime we’d ask how far west still had to go, she’d answer “a half mile.” A half mile to what? “The next half mile.”)

I've seen some vocally anti-AI people recently make an anti-AI post and be surprised there are still pro-AI people following them, and I can explain this; most pro-AI people think they are somehow the exception. the way THEY are using it, SURELY you would take no issue! well, we do. so fuck off.

I expect that consumer-facing AI programs will continue to improve and they may become much more useful tools for everyday life in the future. But I think it was a disastrous mistake that today’s models were taught to be convincing before they were taught to be right.

Trump’s hypocrisy on full display — he pauses ICE raids, then orders brutal sweeps on farms and hotels days later. A ruthless power grab fueled by corruption and chaos. This is what “leadership” looks like? #TrumpRaids #ICE #Corruption #NoJustice www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

This is a big deal. Stephen Fry is difficult to dismiss as a fringe figure. He's as middle-of-the-road establishment as they come - with the politics and long silence on this issue to match. JKR and her fan club won't just be able to shrug this off. www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/step...

Anti-trans bigotry always existed, but trans folks were too few, and trans issues too remote, to inspire much organic animus among normal voters and mainstream media. The drum beat of anti-trans media over recent years started with cynically workshopped wedge rhetoric polled to shape public opinion

if i can be y’all’s dad for a second: one of the most important things I’ve learned is that acquiring a skill is literally uncomfortable that awful moment where you feel confused and stupid and embarrassed? it means you’re about to learn something. and it’s *mandatory* if you want to get better

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

Vaccines save lives!

well done Lior. There seems a subset of scientists who don’t understand probability and are convinced that statisticians are just pedantic killjoys determined to take their significant results away from them.

Largest trans survey ever finds the top reason transgender people stop transitioning is transphobia “In almost every single case, the reason was anti-trans discrimination in the form of pressure to ‘detransition’ from one’s family, friends, or community,” the survey found.

So Smith and the UCP government screw up and waste taxpayers dollars because of the way they ordered and distributed the COVID-19 vaccine, and Albertans get penalized for their careless mistakes and bad judgement. Sounds about right. 🤔

Hey there Scott Walker. I noticed you deleted this after learning that in fact the shooter was from the right. I don’t think it matters either way, violence is violence, so I’m waiting for you to tweet the same thing with corrected facts? Cuz you’re uh, to use your words, “being silent.”

I dunno if like three to five times as many random people were in the streets to protest as there are total members of the entire military (active duty plus reserves) I might make that more than a one-day story instead of the limp, sad-trombone parade he forced on a few of those military members

DUZA BEAR Dear #PierrePoilievre: The normal thing for a private citizen that has concerns about the government is NOT to loiter around parliament every day being a pest. What you're supposed to do is contact your local MP like every other private citizen in Canada and express any concerns to them.

my mom just sent me her sign for tomorrow. no notes.

joanne: do you really want to hurt me? do you really want to make me cry? boy george: damn fucking straight
