The Christian god certainly condones rape in multiple passages. The only stipulation is that when a man is done raping someone, he pays her dad and marries her. (Not a joke, it’s actually in the bible).

I’m in a fairly remote town. Maybe it’s a bit different in towns closer to large cities. When I lived in Calgary, it was different.
But virtually everyone in my small town is a Trump supporting fundamentalist. Their “Christian” politicians have convinced them to hate immigrants and minorities.
