Today was by far the most exhausting day. I basically was in a call for maybe 90% of the entire day. The good part is that there is some form of progress from every call, they are just in different topics.

I am becoming a bit too mind scattered, because I am trying to finish multiple things at work but also then thus spills over to life by juggling different books, moods and music genres throughout the day...

I just had a Sam Altman moment, I found out that a Portuguese translation of Über die Dummheit by Musil, that I bought in Portugal and is from May of this year isn't in Goodreads. So my Altman moment is that "I just pulled back the curtain to see where the frontier of digital book inventory is"

Wrote short article about use of Koog for developing Kotlin based AI agents (combined with a number of MCP servers). The example included is based on use of #BuildWithGemini LLM (really had to use that with #GoogleIOConnect fast approaching 😀) johnoreilly.dev/posts/kotlin...

KotlinConf talks are up! My own talk can be found here: kotlinconf.com/talks/774286/ Right before I started, they asked me if I could download my slides onto a USB stick. But I didn't have any! My talk was a live-running website built with #Kobweb. 😎 Please enjoy! Questions / feedback welcome.

If you wanna catch up with what's CLEARLY the most important, useful, and practical talk from KotlinConf... You can do it right here: Building a macOS screen saver with Kotlin www.youtube.com/watc...

Taking The Extinction of Irene Ray by Jennifer Croft and the Strugatsky brothers The Snail on the Slope on my trip to Sweden. Both look fascinating. (A fair number of S-bro novels are too talky/ dialogue driven for me, but this one seems more immersive.)

The US needs to revamo their anthem, finishing it with "land of the free" is just hypocritical at this point.

What does it take to scale a mobile app used by millions — and still keep the code clean, modular, and future-proof? 📈⚙️ 🟢 Watch “Building a HIGH-SCALE application: Android ChatGPT App” 🔗 youtu.be/DZnIZ62D2lc 👈🏻 👤 Anton Tananaev, Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI 🎥 Check out the other talks☝🏻

This is gold 🤣

Trump caught on hot mic saying he wants his people to behave like North Koreans when he speaks God he's pathetic

The new version of my book "Functional Programming Ideas for Curious Kotliners" has been released! The final version has been updated to use context parameters, and contains updated sections on persistent collections and composables. leanpub.com/fp-ideas-kot...

The 1 billionth GitHub repository has been created and it’s absolutely perfect.

🔥 The recording of @zsmb.co's “Compose Hot Reload is here, stop relaunching your app!” talk from @androidmakers.bsky.social is now live! 🎥 www.droidcon.com/2025/05/10/c...

Some engineers write code. The rare ones write code and connect teams, unblock people, align efforts, and make everyone move faster. Those are your real 10x engineers.

I'm sorry but this is insane, the police really act like they are fighting a horrible enemy and not the people they swore to protect.

É nossa!

Not sure if US citizens realise that they are living in a dictatorship, their state agents CAN use masks but not the protesters... From the linked article. www.dw.com/en/donald-tr...

Enjoyed speaking at droidcon Italy in Milan last year! Sharing a video of my talk on Compose Internals! youtu.be/Cd4m9iJRQcs?... Excited to be back this year in Turin, Italy!

@kentbeck.com is there a Roadmap for the following material after "Tidy First?" Don't want to add any pressure just curious if it will happen, I'm currently starting to read that one now and loving the idea of follow ups.

#DidYouKnow that #Android16 gets 7 new services that can, provided service-related preconditions are met, be obtained using getSystemService()? developer.android.com/sdk/api_diff...

tldr: FB/IG app ran a local socket on their Android app, and their web tracking pixels used it to report back. This didn't just get built out of nowhere. Lots of people at Meta probably wrote a PRD, eng design docs, and sat in meetings to discuss developing this tracking method.

Did you know there is a Unicode character to reverse the writing direction? Can lead to interesting attacks like: "file[U+202e]fdp.exe shown as fileexe.pdf" trojansource.codes/trojan-sourc...

I am testing out a Mac Mini (2018), pre-M1 era. And overall still impressed by it. Another thing I kind of figured out is that newer Apple trackpad interfaces come with newer macOS versions. Long story short, with macOS 14 my USB-C Trackpad wasn't recognised.

Amusing outcome of "vibe coding" wave with AI (by people who have not written software professionally before) Seeing the speedrun of why software development REALLY is hard (it was never about writing code - even though most non-dev folks assumed it must have been!)
