I thought popularism had a point when it was about *messaging*, -- e.g. if a policy both makes 99% of the population better off and reduces racial disparities, your message should be almost entirely focused on the former, and there genuinely was a problem with "wokeness" not understanding this. 1/2

I found an old journal from college, and in addition to angsty poetry, there are some aphorisms that would have done numbers if they hadn't predated short-form social media by a decade.

Illegal immigration to the US would be a trivial issue if legal immigration worked the way low-information citizens think that it works. The Democratic position should be that immigration is unambiguously good and we should make mass legal immigration possible again.

Someone should feed RFK2 some rabies-infected exotic meat and then dare him not to get the vaccine.

I used to select Dem primary candidates based on policy. Now I will aggressively try to destroy any Dem who says "we need to look forward not backward" and fervently support anyone who says "I will see these motherfuckers prosecuted and jailed if it's the last thing I do."

Somehow, the future is both going to be a dystopian techno sci-fi hellscape AND we're gonna have coal and measles and robber barons and a permanent underclass. Philip K. Dickens

The comms people for liberal candidates are welcome to workshop this.

The US has been described as "an insurance company with an army." Trump/Miller/Musk won't stop until it's "a slush fund with a detention center."

The American people made a Faustian bargain—deporting their neighbors, condemning women to unnecessary deaths, killing tens of millions abroad—for a good economy. If they actually get one they will do this over and over again. They must learn that when the lowest among us suffer, we all do.

It is genuinely remarkable the degree to which having a humiliation fetish is a necessary element of being pro-Trump.

Noncitizens voting is a fake problem, while vote suppression is a real one.

I would like to see a Democrat say the following to ICE: “What you are doing are crimes. We will return to power. When we do, we will treat you, the people kidnapping, trafficking, and abusing detainees, as criminals. You should consider this, and now act accordingly. You should be afraid.”

We're going to get the Butlerian Jihad without AI itself having provoked it; just a reaction to the all the worst people foisting it on society in the dumbest ways possible.
