My one Dark Ages complaint aside, this game is pure badassery. I'm a sucker for good shield gameplay, and this is straight up Capt America-style plant yourself like a tree beside the river of brutality, and tell all of Hell - "No, you die."

Doom the Dark Ages feels like it was catered to my tastes specifically. My only issue is the sound mixing. The music is fine, the audio mix is trash. Moments that should have been bombastic "let's fucking go" headbangers, like the first dragonflight cutscene, only have subtle guitar riffs playing.
