Good morning! Call me cheesy, but it’s fun to document one of the best moments of someone’s life. From Brooklyn: Here’s a glimpse at VJ Edgecombe’s whirlwind after being selected third overall by the Sixers. www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixer...

With Round 1 of the 2025 NBA draft in the books, @pompeyonsixers.bsky.social and @ginamizell.bsky.social break down the Sixers’ Day 1 moves and look ahead to free agency. Watch live: www.inquirer.com/inquirer-liv...

VJ Edgecombe had already received the life-changing call from the Sixers. Then came the longest “the longest 15 seconds of my life” as he waited to be picked. The Inquirer's @ginamizell.bsky.social takes you inside the dynamic Baylor guard’s first night as a Sixer. www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixer...

VJ Edgecombe is another draftee with friends and family on the inside of his suit jacket, including a coach in the Bahamas that everybody called “Sugar” who was the first who told him he could make the NBA. “That’s why I started crying, too — just because they’re the people I do it for.”

To hold y’all over until we get to chat with Edgecombe on-site.

Happy draft day (finally)! Starting this thread of lead-up coverage for a big night for the Sixers with some notes and nuggets from yesterday’s prospect availability — including trade-down candidates Kon Knueppel and Tre Johnson www.inquirer.com/sixers/2025-...

Thomas Sorber used to be out the door at 4:30am to take the train from Trenton to Philly. Now, the former Archbishop Ryan star is on the cusp of being a lottery NBA draft pick — a journey he credits to his family. “I just want to make my mom happy.” www.inquirer.com/sixers/thoma...

For what’s it’s worth, been writing about Ace Bailey being a polarizing prospect since January. This is from when Rutgers played Michigan State at MSG (Harper was hurt and missed most of that game) www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixer...

The light at the end of a terrible season for the Philadelphia Sixers was a 3rd overall draft pick. What should they do with it? You tell us – and see who @pompeyonsixers.bsky.social, @ginamizell.bsky.social, @mikesielski.bsky.social, and @highcheese.bsky.social would pick share.inquirer.com/tdRZSJ

Caught up with Ricky Council yesterday at a local kids camp, where he did not shy away from his reality entering the 2025-26 season “It's the last chance. I've always had my back against the wall. It's nothing new, so there's no pressure.” www.inquirer.com/sixers/ricky...

VJ Edgecombe’s former coaches, John Buck and Scott Drew, detail his rise from relative unknown to elite draft prospect. “Yes, he produces highlights. But he produces winning plays. He’s an everyday, lunch-pail kind of guy.” www.inquirer.com/sixers/2025-...

VJ Edgecombe has become a buzzy Sixers draft name. Talked recently with his past two coaches — Baylor’s Scott Drew and Long Island Lutheran’s John Buck — about why he’s an elite prospect. "Yes, he produces highlights. But…he's an everyday, lunch-pail kind of guy.” www.inquirer.com/sixers/2025-...

What the Sixers do with the No. 3 pick has understandably taken up most of the pre-draft buzz. But what about the 35th pick? Here are the prospects mocked there right now, along with some other possibilities. www.inquirer.com/sixers/nba-d...

For more than a decade, Daryl Morey has been producing (aka, helping finance) a musical called “Small Ball.” It gets its East Coast premiere beginning tonight, featuring a cast and creative team with Broadway and off-Broadway credits alongside local standouts. www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixer...

The Sixers know that having the third overall pick in the draft could land them a star (Joel Embiid) or a bust (Jahlil Okafor). That is also reflected in the picks in this spot since the Sixers last drafted this high. Here is a breakdown: www.inquirer.com/sixers/2025-...

Come for Jay Wright’s look back at Nova-era Josh Hart, stay for this locker-room exchange I witnessed that is both hilarious and now could be a bit of foreshadowing. “Off the court, I don’t know what he’s going to say. And on the court, I don’t know what he’s going to do.”

There are several reasons the Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. Josh Hart, a do-it-all guard who epitomizes the team's ethos, played a key role for the city where he "finally found a home." www.inquirer.com/sixers/knick...

The first time Jay Wright watched Josh Hart play, he was in the gym to recruit someone else. But he quickly realized “this kid Hart is getting every rebound. He’s making every play.” The latest ‘Nova Knick deep dive, on the dude whose name embodies his team. www.inquirer.com/sixers/knick...

Rideshare driver Mucha Nama was born and raised in Ethiopia but is a diehard Eagles fan. He goes to OTAs and drives an Eagles-themed car. It has faux Lombardi trophy on top, a speaker that plays "Eagle sound effects," and a few jerseys (No. 1 and 26) www.inquirer.com/eagles/a/eag...

The WNBA comment was obviously the most newsworthy of Dawn Staley’s book event on Friday, but I also enjoyed her recounting how Temple persuaded her to start coaching and her “look, sound, feel” mantra👇🏻

Spent last night at Dawn Staley’s book event in Philly, where a question about if she would consider coaching a hypothetical WNBA expansion team in Philly got some out of their seats. “I don't want to come back and coach, OK? I want ownership.” www.inquirer.com/college-spor...

Now that the draft lottery/combine hubbub has slightly died down, let’s reset where the Sixers stand. Who they’re most likely to take at No. 3, some trade-down options, and big swings that could be classified as wishful thinking. www.inquirer.com/sixers/2025-...

Come for how some of the Sixers’ trade-down draft options continue to develop their games. Stay for these quotes ✍️
