I waited for the heat index to fall under 110° before going outside but forgot to look at the dew point. Promptly changed my mind and went right back inside 🥵

Week 25- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 5. Midnight (2021) - S. Korean thriller about a deaf young woman & her mother trying to evade a charming serial killer after accidentally interrupting one of his kills. 👍

Week 25- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 4. The Great Silence (1968) - Jean-Louis Trintignant stars as a mute gunslinger fighting a group of bounty killers in this spaghetti western. Also stars Klaus Kinski, who I despise, so he kinda ruins a good movie for me

Week 25- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 3. The Whisperer in Darkness (2011) - quaint independent b&w adaptation of the HP Lovecraft short story

Week 25- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 2. The Screaming Woman (1972) - Olivia de Havilland stars as a wealthy former mental patient who believes a woman has been buried alive in this made-for-TV movie, based on a Ray Bradbury story

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 8. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) - Questions arise when Senator Stoddard attends the funeral of a local man named Tom Doniphon in a small Western town. Stars Jimmy Stewart & John Wayne ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 7. Why Don’t You Play in Hell? (2013) - absurd Japanese action comedy. A renegade film crew becomes embroiled with a Yakuza clan feud. Not my cup of tea, but it grew on me by the end

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 6. What Josiah Saw (2022) - Southern Gothic psychological horror. Members of a damaged family reunite at their remote farm & confront old secrets. Creepy 👍

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 5. When Animals Dream (2014) - slow burn Danish coming-of-age werewolf horror. For the most part, not much happens until the end, but I liked it

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 4. The Man Who Skied Down Everest (1975) - Japanese daredevil Yuichiro Miura’s attempt to ski down Everest. Beat Documentary Feature Oscar winner. (Nepal & Tibet should close Everest to most people imo)

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 3. What is Buried Must Remain (2022) - Lebanese horror. 3 young filmmakers set out to make a documentary about a local haunted house. Almost all cast/crew were Syrian refugees with little/no experience. 👍

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 2. Why We Fight: Prelude to War (1942) - US WWII propaganda film directed by Frank Capra, used as an Army training film. Co-winner of Best Documentary Oscar. Scary how the current US gov’t is so similar to the description of the enemies in this

Week 24- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 1. Who Can Kill a Child? (1976) - a couple of English tourists arrive on a Spanish island where the kids have gone mad & are killing the adults. Great creepy & tense atmosphere 👍

Week 23- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 1. The China Syndrome (1979) - a reporter discovers a cover-up of safety hazards at a (URANIUM-fueled) nuclear power plant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Imagine if I had the brains to bring a floor lamp downstairs instead of trying to make dinner & do the dishes by the light of a tiny lantern (the ceiling fixture died) 😑

Spending $250 million on an election so everyone on all sides hates me

Week 22- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 5. Gladiator II (2024) - I’ve been hesitant to watch this due to the poor reviews, but it was ok. Nothing I would watch again though. Denzel looked like he had fun

Week 22- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 4. A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) - I’m almost always happy with giant creature movies, but I liked this more than I’d expected. Lupita Nyong’o & Joseph Quinn had great chemistry, which elevated the story for me. Plus 🐈‍⬛

Week 22- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 3. Sleepy Hollow (1999) - 3rd of 3 that didn’t interest me at release Beautiful cinematography & mostly enjoyable adaptation of the story, but Johnny Depp’s weird comedic acting took me out of the story more than a couple times

Week 22- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 2. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) - 2nd of 3 that didn’t interest me at release I was a kid when the original 3 were released, loved all of them, & was then weird about seeing the new ones. Decided to get over it. It was boring

Week 22- #MovieChallenge 2025/ 1. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) - 1st of 3 this week that didn’t interest me when released. What a blast! A fun mix of live action & animation, this noir comedy is set in an alternate world in 1947 where humans and toons coexist

I have a special skill, and it’s killing microwave ovens

Week 21 - #MovieChallenge 2025 6. Amour (2012) - Georges & Anne are an elderly couple. Anne has a stroke, Georges vows to take care of her and not send her back to the hospital. Incredibly acted. Best Int’l Feature Film winner

Week 21 - #MovieChallenge 2025 2. Shiva Baby (2020) - a college student has an awkward encounter with her sugar daddy and her ex-gf while at a Jewish funeral service with her parents. Very good, but SO stressful with all the talking talking talking

Week 21 - #MovieChallenge 2025 1. Rabid Grannies (1988) - neither rabid nor grannies. Two elderly sisters receive a satanic gift from their ostracized relative which turns them into Evil Dead-esque killers. The old ladies are great, but everything else is awful 👎
