So I've watched ep. 1 of the New Adam Curtis, and here's the thing: Thatcher did not destroy British manufacturing industry by mistake. That is all you really need to know to understand what's wrong with this way of telling the story, but I'll elaborate a bit....

Cos the best way to defeat Farage is to agree with him about absolutely everything Tories proved this by running a 10 year experiment that left them polling at "functionally dead", while Reform are favourites to win the next election Top thinking, Blue Labour! www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The Blue Labour group of Labour MPs consisted of four named members last time I checked. They claim it’s now actually in the double digits but until they’ve got a serious membership list of people who will openly associate with the brand, they deserve to be treated as a fringe of a fringe.

It's really "brown labour" at this stage They know this is bad electoral strategy so one can only assume it is ideological www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

You’re telling me this guy was on drugs? I’m not buying it.

More than 100 of the UK’s most high-profile disabled people urge the Prime Minister to abandon the “inhumane and catastrophic plans to cut disability benefits”. My exclusive: www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Wannabe dictator acting like a dictator.

Reform councils fulfil pledge to scrap LTNs - as none exist in their councils anyway - www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The man with the nuclear codes walked into a wall. 😬

The more I think about this the more extraordinary it becomes. The ultimate conclusion is: "Britain was prepared to permit & facilitate the genocide of the Palestinian people to atone for Jermey Corbyn previously being leader of the Labour Party". Absolute wild

UK inflation rate jumps to 3.5% in April as higher household bills kick in. If Rachel Reeves really does want to go “further and faster to put money in people’s pockets” the answer is simple: we need a wealth tax now.

Starmer and Lammy are scum

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. As a gay man, I lived through Section 28. I remember how painful it was. Now, the culture war targeting trans people, questioning their right to even exist, feels even crueller. Solidarity. Always. 🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Jeeezlord, Sir Protofascist…

Keir Starmer’s “island of strangers” rhetoric is reckless and divisive. In Wales, as across the UK, social care is in crisis. The solution is not to turn on migrant workers, but to invest in training, raise wages, and improve working conditions. 🗣️ @benlake.bsky.social

ICYMI "... Starmer hopes it will assure the Reform adjacent and neutralise the issue, giving Labour political space to showcase their record. Like cutting the NHS, taking money off the disabled, arming a genocide, etc. etc."

Just came off @lbc.co.uk to talk about the Prime Ministers speech. We had racist riots on our streets last summer. Rather than fix the real problem - inequality - he's happy to dance to Farages tune. Disgusting. He should apologise (& actually fund public services!)

The step-up in anti-migrant rhetoric from the government is shameful and dangerous. Migrants are our neighbours, friends and family. To suggest that Britain risks becoming “an island of strangers” because of immigration mimics the scaremongering of the far-right.

Fascism is on the rise & climate collapse ongoing. We can't afford incremental change. By the time we're anywhere close to power, it'll be too late. We need to make an impact on the national stage & step into the next era of our party - we need bold leadership. novaramedia.com/2025/05/12/g...

The Prime Minister imitating Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech is sickening. That speech fuelled decades of racism and division. Echoing it today is a disgrace. It adds to anti-migrant rhetoric that puts lives at risk. Shame on you, Keir Starmer.

Starmer's Britain. Not even subtle.

Putin and the rest of the world continuing to laugh at these bumbling fools.

Make this kid the Indian PM!

The purpose of capitalism is to maximize profits through private ownership. Not saying that this is good or bad in & of itself, but ensuring that everyone has access to necessities is not profitable & definitely not a hallmark of capitalism. www.currentaffairs.org/news/the-wal...

Babe wake up, they're transvestigating the new Pope let's fuckin gooooooooooo

It is a little weird to me countries aren’t more aggressively, formally trying to take advantage of the U.S. science brain drain. Once in a lifetime opportunity to buy low on Non-Dumbass Americans with PhDs who just wanna look into microscopes and quietly cure ass cancer as our country eats shit.

Weird how you never hear from the Politically Homeless any more. Something to do with every Politically Homeless person actually having a really nice house?

Imagine being so hack you steal rhetoric from Donald Trump who already stole his from a 90s ITV cartoon where the villain was a warthog mogul in a pinstriped suit.

STATEMENT FROM ENGLISH FOLK DANCE AND SONG SOCIETY

It's a shit time for trans folks, so seeing Robert De Niro unequivocally stand beside his trans daughter and daring anyone else to say something about it is a nice balm.

There's not a single crime in the history of the UK that would have been prevented by a bathroom bill. Not one Bathroom bills aren't about safety, they're about trying to exclude LGBT people from public life. That's it

Attendees at the #RDconf last Saturday voted on an emergency motion to show their opposition to the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman. Read the motion below 👇 BMA-wide policy is set at the Annual Representative Meeting (ARM) in June 2025.

Why is there so much business as usual among #sociologists during a #genocide? @anilsghost.bsky.social reflects on #Gaza and how explosive weapons have left their marks on sociological ideas and the discipline’s “ambivalent solidarity with anticolonial struggles”. #OnlineFirst buff.ly/161xGVT

How do you do meaningful public engagement on the design of public transport? These 3 principles from Newcastle University, used to ‘reimagine’ the future of the Tyne and Wear Metro, are a decent place to start*: 1. Amplify diverse voices 2. Encourage creativity 3. Position passengers as experts

My gender recognition certificate application was delayed because the panel wanted confirmation that I'd been using the ladies toilets for two years. You'd think the equalities minister would be familiar with the GRA and the GRC process.

If you know, you know

If Jesus had focused more on kitchen table issues and less on unpopular outcasts like lepers and prostitutes, he might have won more support from white working-class Judeans.

They're going after Parkrun again, you know, that event where lots of people of all ages, abilities and genders run around a local park and it not, in any form, a race?
