The debate on Brexit has shifted now. Is it about the difficulties of exports and imports? Yes, it is still partly about that. But tweaks on that are secondary. The whole geopolitical situation has shifted. The US has ditched its allies to move towards Russia. Rejoining the EU is an emergency.

Saw an old friend last night. Back in 2016 our conversations got a little dicy when he became something of a fervent Brexiter... In pub he suddenly volunteers to me: "Brexit was a shit idea wasn't it. I mean - a really shit idea." I think we may be entering the time frame where people accept that.

I have faced fascism before, in this very country. I was one of 120,000 Japanese Americans summarily rounded up and expelled from our homes at gunpoint, all for the crime of looking like the people who bombed Pearl Harbor. I spent my childhood behind barbed wire. My parents lost everything. 1/
