šŸ“ˆ Important research alert: Older adults with dementia lose awareness of their financial management abilities. This "financial anosognosia" creates a perfect storm for fraud vulnerability: declining skills + unawareness of those declines + accumulated wealth. Read more: bit.ly/DementiaFinance

šŸ“¢ New research has found that a #mindfulness-based psychological therapy incorporating elements from CBT may help people with difficult-to-treat #depression. Dr Asha Ladwa explains the research in this blog: tinyurl.com/ytuahecm @exeter.ac.uk @ashaladwa.bsky.social

Well I decided to give Amazon’s #RingsOfPower another try, as people said the second season was better. Well… in the first 5 minutes I saw #Sauron, in his David Brent incarnation, delivering his world domination pitch like he was outlining the new HR policy on annual leave entitlement 1/3

It's great to welcome back delegates for Module 2 of the 8th #Dementia MasterClass! Today we covered a mix of different topics including vascular dementia, less common aspects, rarer forms, YOD, and post-diagnostic support. #dementiaMC

Memorial to the #Eyemouth fishing disaster- on 14th oct 1881 a storm led to the deaths of 189 fishermen in a single day- an unimaginable catastrophe for a small town. There’s also a very moving display in the town museum #Stunday #photography

#Yorkshire #cycling doesn’t do flat- today’s ride never went above 300m, but still had more metres climbing per km than yesterday’s Giro stage… no wonder I feel knackered! 😳🤢 who needs the Alps…? 😁😁

Jura trip retrospective, day 4. Slept poorly, tent like sleeping in a wind tunnel full of laundry. Long slog up over the spine of the island, energy running low by time we got back to Ardlussa. Much needed nap on the jetty before boat trip back- beers in Oban! šŸ»šŸ„³šŸ˜ #Scotland #photography #trekking

Sometimes sport produces results that would be dismissed as absurdly contrived if you wrote them as a script. Seven years ago Simon Yates led the #Girod’Italia into the Queen Stage on the #ColledelleFenestre, but had a catastrophic day, losing over an hour and dropping out of the top 20 1/2

Depressing commentary on the current state of #football part 2: the pointless monstrosity that is the Club World Cup. Ronay has a great turn off phrase, but what he’s writing about isn’t funny at all www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Jura trip retrospective: day 3. After day 2’s toils, mostly easy walking on short turf, around edges of huge raised beaches, with blue skies and fantastic views across to Mull and Colonsay. Otter scampering across Shian bay, seals, wild goats. #Scotland #trekking #photography #nature

FEEDING FRENZY! Glad I’m not a herring. Gannet dinner served, Eyemouth #Scotland #nature

It’s #waterfallwednesday- so here are the Black Water falls, just north of Garve. Right next to the A835- well worth a stop. #Scotland #photography #nature

Jura trip retrospective- day 2. Picking a path between the adders down to Loch Tarbert, then boulder hopping along beaches to Ruantallain- bothy not a patch on Cruib Lodge, but what a location! Views back to the Paps of Jura, and over to Colonsay, and an otter at sunset #Scotland #photography

As part of our #BePartofResearch campaign, we’re sharing a new trial at Oxford Health exploring online therapy for prolonged grief. Led by the Oxford Centre for Anxiety Disorders & Trauma. šŸ”— grief.web.ox.ac.uk/home

Corrievreckan was awe-inspiring- what looked like incoming breaking waves were actually 6ft high standing waves formed as the tide rushes between Jura and Scarba at running pace. Glad of a powerful engine and Barry’s experience at the helm.. #Scotland #photography #Jura

Bothy came with a small library and an oil painting- not standard equipment! Picnic table outside made for a comfortable dinner spotting seals across the Loch #Scotland #bothy #photography #nature

Jura trip, day 1, the walking bit: 13km to Cruib Lodge bothy. Along the road (there only is one), then trying to follow ATV tracks cross country to Loch Tarbert. Tiring in the heat. Slow worm en route. Carried in beef stew- a fine dinner with red wine at an excellent bothy- dinner with a view! 😁

Two weeks on, and it’s raining, so time to look back at the Jura walking trip- day 1, over to Jura- Craobh Haven to Ardlussa, on the Jennie Wren- thanks to Barry for the thrill ride through the Corrievreckan whirlpool on the way! And a white tailed eagle keeping an eye on us as we passed

Shian bay, on the west coast of Jura. The most remote beach in Scotland? A ferry ride, then a bus, then a day’s walk across pathless moorland. The reward- the views to Mull and Colonsay, and seeing an otter running across the beach #photography #landscapephotography #Hebrides #Scotland #Jura #beach

Back from four days walking the west coast of the Isle of Jura. No roads, no settlements, no livestock- just deer, seals, otters, adders, and eagles… sunset from beach camp at Corpach- magical #stunday #photography #landscapephotography #hebrides #jura #Scotland

So, performing a Farage tribute act doesn’t impress people who want the real deal, but repels everyone else; jeopardising the very existence of the party… and if Badenoch doesn’t turn things around, she’ll be replaced by Robert Jenrick? That’s the plan..? 🫣 www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
