Boston's No Kings parade tomorrow would have clashed with the Pride Parade so the city has decided to lump everything together and call it "NO KINGS, but YAAAAS Queen!" Go Boston!

what a fabulous paragraph

This story is impeccably reported, full of jaw-dropping scenes and scoops, but even better, she wrote the shit out of it--it's consistently, surreally funny, our own real-life, real-time Dr. Strangelove. (Seriously, though, we're all doomed.)

NEW: 12 masked armed men try to enter a homeless shelter without saying who they are. ICE agents park outside an elementary school, sparking fear and a car accident. Local police respond to a call about a possible assault, only to find ICE. Inside one day on LI: theintercept.com/2025/06/13/i...

there’s got to be some kind of statute of limitations on this crap. I get moral hazard, I get all of that, it’s just completely insane to say that this guy who built an American life for 30 years isn’t American.

The cruelty in today's politics feels horribly corrosive. Bringing up that hard-working immigrant families — undocumented, yes, but not violent criminals — are being ripped apart based on immigration status doesn't bring compassion or even pause, but gleeful cheers.

Pritzker's willingness to speak over these fascist pigs is honestly a great endorsement of his suitability to lead in this moment

Just say it, bro. What the fuck are you protecting by not just telling us what he said?

AOC: When they say illegal vs legal immigration—they are trying to end legal status in the US making people undocumented and then they have the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented.

She is saying, in effect: "We are going to liberate the city from its democratically elected leadership using the military"

"On Wednesday, LA city councilor Hugo Soto-Martinez said in a video posted to Instagram that ICE had shown up at a confidential domestic violence shelter, apparently in search of one person who was not present." www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Governor JB Pritzker said to Rep. Mary Miller: "I am not going to be lectured to by somebody who extols the virtue of Hitler." Finally, someone says it to their faces.

For everyone repeatedly abused by NYT headlines, please remember the @inquirer.com is owned by a nonprofit trust.

In the past week, a union leader has been arrested, a U.S. Rep charged with a crime, a U.S. Senator violently handcuffed, and reporters shot with rubber bullets and detained. There is no ambiguity. This is a regime operating as an authoritarian. Americans who believe in liberty must oppose it.

oh so we should dissent peacefully?? through legitimate channels?? like by being elected to the united states senate and asking questions at a DHS press conference???

At this point, Newsom should be calling an emergency session of the legislature and considering some very uncomfortable options

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.

This is absolutely insane, and criminal. Everyone, especially a Senator representing the state, has a right to speak out. The fact that the agents felt protected in acting this way says everything. We’re quickly traversing a dangerous path

What happened to Senator Padilla is absolutely DISGUSTING. Point blank, period. This shit is out of control. Another elected official disrespected while doing their job. (1/2)

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference. But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.

I also teared up.

Shocking display of racist contempt from Bessent

Powerful statement by Sen. Alex Padilla. Please notice that anytime senators or representatives try to conduct oversight, they’re blocked. In this case, a sitting US senator was tackled to the ground and handcuffed—for asking a question. Where the hell has Chuck Schumer been on this?

Hahaha I've been saying this for years. Android users often get features that iPhone users celebrate years later.

Yeah it's really something to see a U.S. senator being hit with the same impossible compliance demands that the cops scream at people before shooting them during a stop

"Liberate this city from socialists and burdensome leadership." If that's not regime change, I don't know what to tell you. The inflection point is now.

So ICE is now more powerful than a sitting US senator? I hope every democrat congressperson stands up for their colleague and demands accountability for what happened to Alex Padilla. They won’t but I wish they would.

It’s completely insane that US troops are illegally deployed to suppress domestic opposition and it’s not uniformly condemned by the press and political elite.

There's no other option.

Another video of Senator Padilla’s violent arrest at DHS Sec Noem’s press conference in LA. You can see him thrown to the ground by FBI agents and handcuffed. (video shared by Padilla’s staff with Elex Michaelson of Fox LA and posted on X)

I would like the major news outlets to imagine that this is Sen. Cornyn or Sen. Cotton and headline accordingly.

Literally describing themselves as occupying a blue state like hostile territory with the military and federal forces.

THIS A UNITED STATES SENATOR ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA BEING PHYSICALLY SHOVED OUT OF A MEETING ABOUT WHAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS DOING TO THE BIGGEST CITY IN OUR STATE.

No one pushing him out of that room is a good person, of course.

The popularists played Democrats for chumps on this issue. This provides an opening for a big reset. There is *literally* a kitchen table angle here, if you need one. Trump's mass deportations are hurting people at their kitchen tables *by his own admission.* Time to reset on this, Dems.

Elon Musk gutted the federal government, dismantled key institutions, and cut off food and medicine to some of the poorest people on the planet. By leaving DOGE, he’s trying to restore his reputation and rescue his struggling businesses. He should never be allowed to recover.

Men are pretending to be ICE to abduct women as if this wasn't the most predictable thing to come out of allowing masked goons with no ID to snatch people off the streets.

A boat transporting individuals to a Telemundo party celebrating one year out from the World Cup was boarded by the coast guard. They checked the immigration status of the staff on the boat. The mayor of Miami-Dade, FIFA officials, and Telemundo leadership were present.

I was at a car wash in Culver City today that was raided twice last weekend by ICE. 25 car wash workers and 1 customer have been kidnapped over the past several days, and the whereabouts of most of them is unknown. I spoke to families of the kidnap victims: prospect.org/justice/2025...

Every extra hour that ICE spends facing off with activists is an hour they can't spend kidnapping other people. Every extra minute ICE has to spend contingency planning around activists and neighbors, every extra officer ICE has to put on a kidnap squad, is a drain on their efficiency.

ICE agents pulled this guy out of his car and beat the shit out of him, putting him in the E.R. Then they pulled him out of the hospital saying he was a "violent gang member." (He's a Doordash driver with only a traffic ticket on his record.) Now he's just...gone. What a nightmare.

When we throw up our hands and say none of it matters, we're doing the fascists’ work for them. They don't need to hide their corruption if they can convince us it's pointless to look. They don't need to silence truth-tellers if we've already decided truth is meaningless.

This is about as bad as it can get for public health.
