If you're in Toronto on 7-8 June, you can't miss this. If you're not here, then you should be. The York Plays will be staged in their full splendour overseen by pageant master Matthew Sergi. From dawn to midnight! This will be bigger than Woodstock - don't be stuck with the bootleg. www.yorkplays.ca

One of our founders, @hellomizk.bsky.social, has co-organised the 'Cartooning the Medieval' symposium at the Newberry Library, Chicago! Professional cartoonists will explore the potential for comics to engage diverse audiences with medieval culture. Read all about the event here: shorturl.at/YOHiy

Our next Making Space Session (online co-working) where you can set time aside time to work on YOUR creative project is taking place on Thursday 22nd May, 5:30pm-7:00pm (GMT). Sign up to our mailing list via the 'Join the Guild' page to receive the link! www.guildmedmak.com/events-1-1/m...

Crow - "A long-lived bird that foretells the future" Unlike coots, the crow *will* eat dead bodies, specifically plucking out the eyes to get to the brain. Mmm. (Bestiary.ca) Drawing a medieval bird every day in May. #MedievalMay #Birds #BirdArt #AmericanCrow #MedievalArt

Do you learn by doing? @ies-sas.bsky.social has a new summer school course that explores medieval manuscripts by making them. You’ll learn how inks and pigments were made and used and get to experiment for yourself! 📖📚🎨 @ies-sas.bsky.social book 👇 ies.sas.ac.uk/london-rare-...

The @oxfordmedievalmss.bsky.social is hosting a workshop by @saracharles.bsky.social, 'GOLD in Medieval Illumination: A Practice Based Workshop' on 16th May, 2:00pm ✨ An exciting session for our Oxford-based medievalist makers!

Self indulgent art challenge: I'm drawing a medieval style bird every day in May. Only birds found in California, from species on bestiary.ca Tracking with #MedievalMay Day 1 - Bittern - "a bird that puts its beak in the water or into reeds and makes a booming noise" #BirdArt #Birds #MedievalArt

CFP: Data Art! ✨Through 5/16, we're accepting proposals for creative work telling evocative, artistic, thought-provoking stories w/data for display in our community space. Craft, making, art, media & more methods are all options (hey, #DHmakes!). Funded; open to all (don't need to be at UVA; 18+) +

Last Friday our Early Medieval People and Things (EMPAT) project hosted a group of Forest School leaders at Centre for Experimental Archaeology and Material Culture (CEAMC) making early medieval Souterrain Ware cooking pots working with 'wild' raw materials and techniques from over 1000 years ago.

Just in case if you missed this printing event in #Mainz: they publically printed a giant page of the Gutenberg bible in the format 5 x 7,20 meter. #bookhistory #skystorians

Our next 'Meet A Medievalist Maker' blogpost is by co-founder @drlauravarnam.bsky.social! Each our MMM blogs are structured around 4 'p's: 👷‍♀️Project 💭Process 👀Peak 👉Prompt Read about Laura's four 'p's relating to her poetic responses to Old and Middle English literature here:

I’ll be cohosting this 5-day course with @stevelawesarts.bsky.social. It will be messy and smelly but also lots of fun. Come and experience the practical side of medieval manuscript making!

Trying again without using words that will inundate me with bots. I’m just a writer, y’all. I’m looking for someone who can do the style of Lucas Cranach the Elder. Please only respond if you have something you can show me in at least the same era’s style.

Co-founder @hellomizk.bsky.social has written up her experience hosting the first Making Space Session for our Substack! Read all about it here 👉 guildmedmak.substack.com/p/reflection...

I spent this evening’s @guildmedmak.bsky.social “Making Space” co-working session experimenting with an autobio zine exercise that I had written but never worked through. It was so encouraging to look up at my screen and see everyone else diligently working away at their projects! #guildmedmak

I spent this evening's @guildmedmak.bsky.social Making Space Session (ably led by @hellomizk.bsky.social ) printing some more of my medieval herbal-inspired apathetic beetroot cards. It was really great to hear about other people's fantastic projects and practices!

This was such a wonderful and inspiring work-and-chat session! It’s definitely got me thinking a lot about trash as a surprisingly generative creativity fuel. 🧡 Thank you to everyone who showed up and shared your thoughts and your practices!

A reminder that our first 🖍️Making Space Session🪢 is taking place this evening, 17:30-19:00 (GMT). @hellomizk.bsky.social will be leading this first relaxed co-working session, so that you can prioritise working on your creative-critical project!

#Medieval #StainedGlass in All Saints, Pavement, #York, depicting the Passion & Resurrection - & the comic book inspired by it! Fascinating to think these images might have influenced local staging of the Mystery Plays. My favourite frame? The literal OMG moment when Doubting Thomas gets his proof.

🎨Our first Making Space Session is taking place 17:30-19:00 (GMT) Thursday 17th April on Zoom!🖋️ Our Making Space Sessions are relaxed online co-working sessions designed to help you schedule time for your creative projects. We will open with brief introductions and some discussion... [1/3]
